I really need this to burst, already had 4 courses of antibiotics over the last few weeks, went back to the doctors this afternoon and they've given me 2 different types of antibiotics to try instead, apparently they can't lance it because it isn't ready 😭

I love a live popping thread.

MimsyBorogroves · 19/07/2021 21:40

Deep breath and stabbity stab.

messybun101 · 19/07/2021 21:52

I had one just like this!!
I couldn't squeeze it, I had to put hard pressure around and wiggle. Did this for a couple of days then the third days pressure sent it flying out

Good luck!!

Sausagis · 19/07/2021 21:59

Are you sure you don't have the Black Death? It looks bubonic plague-ish to me.

Jerkface1 · 19/07/2021 22:09

Sorry to ruin all your hopes and dreams, I can't do it, it had a few little stabs but really hurts like hell even after trying to numb it, I've put mag sulph paste and a dressing on now, hopefully the teeny stabs have done something at least 🤦🏻‍♀️

How is it this morning!?

MrsRockAndRoll · 20/07/2021 07:46

Can you ask your surgery to burst it? Explain you are unwilling to take more ABs and have tried compresses etc.

BlueLobelia · 20/07/2021 07:52
Thanks
OhNoNoNoNoNo · 20/07/2021 08:20

Ouch - that looks sore

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 20/07/2021 08:35

if you cannot bear to squeeze or pin it then a couple of days of magsulph should soften the skin and then use a stretch and press....finger and thumb either side, press down and stretch out

I had one similar under the bra line, again just where the wire is but more to the front and it was murder to try and squeeze, but the press/stretch thing worked

having said that...all those antib's haven't been effective so I'd not be fobbed off with another set...can you show up at a Minor Injuries, there's surely going to be a sporn fan there who would love to deal with your affliction!

I asked them yesterday, they said it isn't ready for lancing Sad

I think she just didn't want to do it though as she said when I first went in "oh we don't really like to lance them because it's messy"

Dera Lord if you are near Fulham I'll bloody do it.

And I'll give you gin.

Sounds like an employment opportunity right there for MN sporners. I'm sure we can all cope with any mess just fine.

Aren't most medical things messy, They are in the wrong job. Seriously, this is not how GP/nurse should treat patients.
Blondeissimo · 20/07/2021 17:25

Ouch! I sympathise - I had one in exactly the same place two years ago. My GP took one look and sent me straight to A&E. The hospital were ace and, like you've had, said it wasn't 'ripe' enough to do anything to yet so to come back in two days or sooner if I felt unwell.

I had it lanced, drained and packed under general anaesthetic two days later. Was really pleased to have it gone but not so pleased with the required daily repacking of the wound.

When I had a second one appear two weeks later I went straight to the hospital and had the same procedure again. No more occurrences since thankfully.

Good luck, hope you get it sorted soon.

So it still came back after having it drained?! Awful 😭 I wish it would just burst now it's so painful, can hardly put my arm down because it's hurting so much, antibiotics are doing absolutely nothing whatsoever

I had something like this on my collarbone

DH called it Kate2

My GP said there was nothing he could do because it was on the collarbone, keloid scar blah blah

I eventually held an ice cube on it then popped it with a thick needle. It was sore until it popped and then it was a thing of beauty.

No scaring, nothing.

Good luck OP

Blondeissimo · 20/07/2021 21:43

My second one was very slightly lower than the first and was caused, they think, by tunnelling under my skin. This led to a diagnosis of mild hidradenitis supperativa. I'm currently waiting on a plastic surgery referral so that I can surgery to have the sacs that were left behind after the two ops removed. I also take daily preventative antibiotics. Hopefully all of that will prevent any refilling or nee reoccurrences.

They are so painful though, I do know what you're going through and it's horrid. I hope you get it resolved very soon.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 20/07/2021 22:01

Why do so many women get these in this arm pit region? I’m nursing one that refills. I’m never getting to the core of the thing.

GrrrlPwr · 25/07/2021 01:22

Underwire bras I would have thought. I don't think they are good for breasts at all

pegboardsu · 26/07/2021 01:31

How are you now OP?

NotMyCat · 26/07/2021 01:46

They really, really don't like lancing them. I got sent home with one that wasn't ready apparently, I lifted up my arm when I got home to change my top snd the damn thing burst everywhere
They can't numb infection, so a lot of the time it needs a GA. I had one done under GA (the same one as it came back) but it was ages before they agreed. The infection was bright red down to my boob and elbow, burning hot and I couldn't put my arm down

Jerkface1 · 07/08/2021 10:54

@pegboardsu

How are you now OP?
Only now seeing these, a lot better, it's still there but it's gone flat again at the moment (after another course of 2 different antibiotics together) but I know it'll grow again, only a matter of time, every time I have antibiotics it goes down flat but it's still there and still purple, then it comes back up a fortnight or so later
