Been on DS (12) 's leg for at least 6 months. First seen when he fell and had what I assumed was a graze but it's just not gone away. Was very white skin for a while too.. legs only coming out of trousers now so disappointed to still be seeing it.

Could be psoriasis

Hoppinggreen · 10/05/2021 11:48

Yes I agree, I used to get it on my elbows and DS does now

Could be psoriasis but could be a scar or just dry skin. Have you tried gently exfoliating and moisturising?

HavelockVetinari · 10/05/2021 11:55

Could be keratosis pilaris - treatment is moisturiser. If the bumps bother him then use Keratolytic before you moisturise.

Take him to see a pharmacist before you do anything though, they'll be able to advise.

I haven't tried this yet; thought it was just from the scab originally but now I see it's not healed I'll try treating that. He's not itching it or anything; I'll have to see if he's patient enough for me to try and treat it. His hygiene leaves something to be desired; can't see him putting in the effort on his own to scrub and moisturise. If that doesn't work, I'll try some steroid cream. Thanks all!

I'm seconding taking him to see a pharmacist before treating it yourself.

I used to have this on my shoulders when I was a kid ... could be it... I'll look closer when I can get him to sit still

Psoriasis.

It'll probably start to clear up once he's got some sunlight on it and you moisturise well with emollient. But go to the gp anyway, as it's an absolute bastard if you let it get away with itself.
