DH has finally consented to me having a go at it, so I'm just considering my options Wink

I have no idea but he's a keeper. My DH will not let me even feel his head bumps now Sad

Please provide video. Grin

@Namechange2020onceagain He really is but don’t get me wrong, it’s taken years to get to this point. Grin

I found an old thread where a poster used the mag sulphate on a pilar cyst and it did work but took three days!

He’s had it on since 11am Grin so be prepared for an update on Tuesday 😂

Please keep us posted on your progress OP. I've just found what I think is a pilar cyst on the back of DHs head. It's red, sore & inflamed but no head. I have some Mah Sulph in the cupboard but not sure whether to use that or maybe Sudocrem or a hot flannel....

I will definitely keep you updated.

We went out last night so I put the mag sulphate paste back on with a small dressing before bed; I am waiting to see if it has survived the night, fingers crossed.

The paste and my homemade dressing did indeed stay on all night. I replaced it earlier today, still no head. But it is a large cyst which has been there years so I’m not expecting it to erupt overnight. 🌋

How are you getting on @igot20joe ?

My DH's appears to be developing a head. It's very tender and red. I have offered several times to squeeze it and he won't let me. Has made mutterings about going to the GP with it. I really should LTB.

igot20joe · 25/08/2020 22:44

Well, no movement at all with it I’m afraid. He’s had the paste on probably for 18 hours out of every 24 for the past three days and I’ve just had a good look and there’s no change at all. He even let me have a good squeeze but there is no head.

I’m SO disappointed!

How long has your DH had it on, @WildCherryBlossom? Does the heat of his head warm/melt it a bit so you have to pop on a plaster or some cotton wool to keep it in the right place?

I know! I’ve watched sooooo many cyst removal videos from Dr Pimple Popper that I truly think I could whip it out for him. I think that might be a bridge too far for him though.

I think it's a job for the GP. The epithelial lining of the cyst needs to be removed, otherwise it will just keep coming back. You can't achieve that by bringing the cyst to a head, as the sack would be left behind. if you attempt it yourself, it would also be at an increased risk of infection. I don't think it is advisable to tackle this at home, the cyst wall will be attached to the scalp tissue, and it's just not worth risking infection in such a delicate area. I really don't think it is something you should attempt at home!

You are basically suggesting that you perform surgery on your husband at home, with no medical training. I think that would be utter madness. Sorry to spoil your fun, OP.

Why would Epsom Salts work on a pillar cyst?

Watch Dr Pimple Popper. A scalpel works.

I said that I thought I could have a go, I didn’t say I would! Grin

Well, it worked on this thread, so we’re giving it a go!

How will it remove the cyst wall?

Mumdiva99 · 26/08/2020 07:01

Ha ha...When i got together with my husband he had a cyst on his back. This was pretty Dr Pimple Popper time.....one say he let me squeeze it....i remember some odd bits coming out...whichbi now know was the sack wall.....i keep praying and praying it will fill up again so I can surgically remove it fully!!! (Joking slightly....if I had a scalpel I would!!)
