Evening!

Just felt a pain when I bent down and came across this on my stretch marks on my belly.

I will book a drs Appt, but in the mean time... any ideas?

A boil? Have you ever had one before? Try a hot compress...

TheReluctantCountess · 29/12/2019 20:54

If it were me, I’d be putting a hot flannel on it, and then giving it a squeeze. Someone with more sensible medical advice might be along shortly...

AQuestionForTheMen · 29/12/2019 20:56

It's an infected hair follicle. I used to get them a lot. It will pop or subside. Usually leaves a mark unfortunately.

puds11 · 29/12/2019 20:56

Looks like a blood blister.

AQuestionForTheMen · 29/12/2019 20:57

*I got them a lot on my stretch marks specifically.

anon2000000000 · 29/12/2019 21:01

Hot bath, dry off, apply magnesium sulphate paste and cover with a dressing. Clean in the morning.

If it gets hot, starts to become more painful or is getting bigger without draining, see your GP.

OLDater · 29/12/2019 21:02

Hot compress applied..
Nope I've never had one before.
It's quite hard... @aquestionforthemen, thanks, do they just go on their own? No dr appt needed?

AQuestionForTheMen · 29/12/2019 21:14

I used to pop them with a sterilised pin to be honest. Always blood, pus and a hair at the centre of them. You could go to the doc if you are worried though. I never did but I'm pretty GP averse.

IShitGlitter · 29/12/2019 21:15

Oooo pop it

GaaaaarlicBread · 29/12/2019 21:15

No idea but that’s amazing !!

RickOShay · 29/12/2019 21:17

Oooh that’s lovely. Do you feel like popping it?

VanessaShanessaJenkins · 29/12/2019 21:19

Message me your address and I'll be round asap with my needle at the ready Grin
I'm so jealous

OLDater · 29/12/2019 21:23

I've just squeezed it and nothing happened other than a whole lot of pain so I stuck a needle in it and nothing other than a little bleeding... don't think it's ready yet 🤷🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
AQuestionForTheMen · 29/12/2019 21:26

You have to squeeze pretty hard and pop it quite deeply with the pin. You'll probably get blood first then the pus and hair. It will be painful.

RickOShay · 29/12/2019 21:28

Well done @OLDater
How are you now?

OLDater · 29/12/2019 21:41

Ok I've stopped being a wuss and squeezed it harder. It popped like a spot and a load of puss and blood came out.

OP posts:
TheReluctantCountess · 29/12/2019 21:43

Yes! Well done. Squeeze all the crap out of it.

ChampagneCommunist · 29/12/2019 22:57

I will come and help. I have a scalpel, needle & full tank of petrol

Ouch. Do keep an eye on that. DM had one in the same place and it was an abscess and she had surgery to remove it in the end. She had felt an irritation from a skirt waistband one day and it developed from there.

lilgreen · 30/12/2019 09:57

I think you have to be careful about infection/sepsis. Show it to a pharmacist but I’m pretty sure they’d advise you go to your gp.

No need for GP at the moment
Keep an eye on the redness around it. If it grows then go to your GP.
If you get one again put a blob of Vicks on and cover with a dressing.
Repeat for a few days until it pops on its own.
Vicks works like magnesium sulphate and brings all the goo to a head. It's always better to let it go itself rather than squeezing a closed spot, you could squeeze infection deeper.
