Full disclosure, I've been to see a doc who has referred me to a dermatologist to rule out anything sinister.

I got sunburned during the heatwave and when the redness receded I was left with this 'nubbin'. I thought it was a blister at first and it was been a bit weepy on occasion. It resists squeezing and is always itchy.

Anyone know what this is...

No idea sorry. Hope you get it sorted soon Smile

donajimena · 03/02/2019 17:37

No. GP for that or nurse practitioner.

donajimena · 03/02/2019 17:37

Duh! You've been! Fingers crossed all ok.

BeverlyGoldberg · 03/02/2019 22:18

Thanks. I was hoping someone would know what it was. But scared of going to dermatologist. Hoping for a good sporner story out of it though.

Well the good news is that it doesn't look anything like the skin cancer DH had Smile

Were you hoping for a sporner story like baby spiders popping out?

BeverlyGoldberg · 05/02/2019 22:00

I was hoping for a jet of sporner goo, spider babies would have been cool though.

Doc said he suspects basal cell carcinoma but he isn't sure.

I hoped someone might say it looks nothing like it and to put some magnesium on it!

It’s not a solar (actinic) keratosis is it, they are caused by sun damage and can itch though usually they are more scaly. They can be common if you are over fifty but your neck looks much younger than that Smile

ShannonRockallMalin · 10/02/2019 07:42

It could be a basal cell carcinoma. Don’t panic - it is skin cancer technically but very rarely spreads and is easily dealt with. I have one on my nose and it appeared after the very hot weather this summer. I had a biopsy to have it confirmed and am having it completely removed soon. Have a read of this thread:

Try not to worry, hopefully it can be swiftly sorted.

BeverlyGoldberg · 10/02/2019 22:39

Thanks so much @ShannonRockallMalin and thanks for posting the thread.

I've tried to be upbeat about it but I'm shitting myself tbh! My appointment is on Tuesday morning and I'm upset my husband hasn't offered to come with me.

Good luck with your removal. Please will you keep in touch and let me know how you get on?

No problem @BeverlyGoldberg! I’m actually having the rest of mine removed tomorrow. I’m going on my own as I don’t want DH fussing round me! I’ll let you know how it goes.

Do you know if they are likely to do a biopsy at your appointment? I wasn’t expecting it but they said they could do it there and then. I have to say the local anaesthetic hurt - bit like a dental injection - but the biopsy itself was quick and painless, and the wound healed quite quickly. Good luck, hope it goes well.

BeverlyGoldberg · 11/02/2019 21:38

Good luck @ShannonRockallMalin I hope it goes well for you.

I have no idea what they'll be doing tomorrow I think they'll just be having a look at it. I kind of hope they do 'something'. Were you ok to drive after your local anaesthetic?

How did you get on?

BeverlyGoldberg · 15/02/2019 23:24

I have to go back next week for two biopsies. The doc said he couldn't say for certain but they are likely to be BCC.

OP posts:
ShannonRockallMalin · 16/02/2019 15:03

Good luck with the biopsy. Mine was over and done with pretty quickly and just had a couple of small stitches.

I had my BCC removed on Tuesday. It was more involved than I was expecting, I had to have a skin graft from my neck to my nose which actually feels more sore than the removal site. I’ve got to keep dressings on until tomorrow and then will be able to have a look at the damage. Wasn’t the most pleasant experience but hopefully it’s done and dusted now.
