Warning disgusting pic! Sinus drain round 2

I am apparently very sensitive to high grass pollen counts. So much so that my nasal canal has swollen to the point of closing in on itself. This means that my sinuses were not able to drain by themselves making my whole face swell and hurt. so I tried a method i found online and steamed my face (I didn't get a pic of round 1, I was unsure whether to be horrified at what came out of me or delighted that my face hurt less). Introducing my very own Jackson pollak. I've done it 5 times today but only took a pic of attempt 2. Will try to remember to take others if they're any good.

Oooh the relief!

Comedyusername · 30/06/2018 00:22

Interested to know how you did that. My sinuses can be dreadfully painful

IllBeAtTheBarIfYouNeedMe · 30/06/2018 00:25

I need to know how you did this too. My sinuses have been blocked for a month and I’m almost deaf from them popping trying to blow my nose. The antibiotics prescribed by my gp haven’t touched it

I boiled the kettle and put the steaming water in a large bowl, the internet said to use menthol essential oils or eucalyptus, but as I don't have those I used a couple of caps of peppermint chlorhexadine mouthwash which I put into the steaming water, covered my head with a towel and breathed the steaming mintiness in. It poured out. The first few times I did it I found it hard to keep my head under the towel as it's fairly hard to breathe, but stick with it and the stuff just flows out.

I do it every hour or so - really nasty infection, and it works every time. And my skin feels great as a bonus haha xxx

Wow!

Tinkofhousepan · 30/06/2018 13:10

@ fuzzy I know right!!! They're like icebergs!!! But Its worth it because I can breathe and my teeth have temporarily stopped hurting! I've also found that sudocreme is amazing for the area around the nostrils that always gets wrecked from blowing your nose. It really sooths the area and has helped with swelling. Plus you get to try out that sexy 'I fell nose first into a small paintcan' look.

Jeeeee-sus!
Im so trying this!

Comedyusername · 01/07/2018 00:35

I have a sinus rinse kit but just thinking about it makes me gag. Steam seems a much friendlier approach

Tinkofhousepan · 01/07/2018 13:29

I honestly can't tell you how much it has helped! I've also been drinking an anti inflammation smoothie with kiwi, yellow squash, tumeric, ginger and cinnamon which has helped my nose reduce in size almost to normal

Hi.

Oh my - I remember the days and nights of trying to do this - I still have a salted water home made nose wash thing in my bathroom.

What you all need is some sudafed. It closes the pipes in the nose that the snot pours out of, and lets you breathe again properly.

I use it all summer long and it is much better than anything else I have ever used. I am 50, and have had hayfever all my life; and many lung related problems so I absolutely cannot afford to get snotty, get a throat drip or a cold or hayfever too long, as it drips into my lungs at night and they get infected.

SUDAFED.
