So I've I've been blocked up for over a week. Had to call doctors today beyits got so bad I've almost 'almost' gone deaf In one ear. I've have been told to do 10 days of olive oil to soften all the wax and to book on to have my ear syringed. Anyone have any experience? I'm absolutely terrified! And hate this deafness and the pressure in my ear!

I used to suffer terribly with this, but I've discovered a solution that really works for me!

I use ear drops (I think they're called Earex?), you can actually feel the fizz when you put them in, they melt the wax a little.
I bought an ear syringe from amazon (it's plastic, cost about a fiver). Fill the syringe with warm water and squirt into your ear gently. Repeat several times and you should see the wax start to come out. Took 2-3 days for my hearing to return in the affected ear. I now do this every month or so to stop the problem returning

Sorry for typos. It's because of wine to ignore the deafening sound of nothing

Thankyou Tyne and frank. I feel so much better! That thread is hilarious Grin I'm feeling some what anxious so has relieved my anxiety! (My anxiety is normally at an all time high but this has relaxed it somewhat!) is it normal to feel even more deaf after oil drops? Dr told me not to use anything other because over the counter makes things worse?!

Haha! On the back of this thread I've discovered that specsavers have a no wax no fee clearance policy!

Unfortunately not where I live, though they did give me a free screening last time I had my eyes tested.

Earwax clinic too (assuming the same across locations)

www.earwaxclinic.co.uk

Typically £40 for one ear or £60 the full set
