Juggling the demands of parenthood has become even more key during lockdown, with many managing to work a full time job from home, home educate their child and keep on top of the housework. It’s no surprise if wellness has fallen by the wayside and tiredness has crept up on you. To celebrate the release of Tru Niagen in the UK, Tru Niagen have provided Dr. Alyssa Dweck, to help answer your questions about tiredness or fatigue.

Here’s what Tru Niagen has to say: “As parents juggle the energetic demands of child-rearing and education in quarantine, many are unaware that they may benefit from an added supply of one essential molecule–NAD+. Tru Niagen® is clinically proven to generate NAD+. Newly launched in the UK, this star supplement promotes health at the cellular level. Tru Niagen® is thoroughly studied. Its sole active ingredient, nicotinamide riboside chloride (NRCI) is a powerful NAD+ precursor that has been validated by 9 clinical trials. Tru Niagen® contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, and supports normal psychological and nervous system functioning. Tru Niagen® also contributes to a normal, energy-yielding metabolism.”

Here’s some more information on Dr. Alyssa Dweck: “Dr Alyssa Dweck is a practising doctor and has served as a member of the Health Advisory Board of Family Circle magazine and contributes regularly to Women’s Health, Cosmopolitan, SHAPE, Health and Seventeen. Dweck also lectures in Westchester County, NY public schools on subjects of sexual and women’s health. Dr. Dweck spends her free time running. She has competed in sprint triathlons. She resides in Westchester County, New York, with her husband, two sons, and girly English Bulldog.”

Here’s what Dr. Alyssa Dweck has to say: “My patients often inquire about and model my personal health routines. Where my personal health and the health of my patients are concerned, choosing ingredients rooted in quality and scientific rigor is a matter of principle. To put it simply–I need to walk the walk.

I turn to Tru Niagen® to help reduce tiredness and fatigue. As a mother, clinician, and athlete, my busy lifestyle demands sustained, reliable support. With extensive clinical research backing up its safety and efficacy, I trust that Tru Niagen® will deliver for me and my patients.”

Do you have questions about which vitamins and minerals help combat fatigue, or how diet changes can affect your energy levels? Maybe you have questions about the role exercise or caffeine plays when it comes to fatigue? Perhaps it’s Tru Niagen you have questions about and you’d like more information?

Whatever your questions about tiredness and fatigue, ask them below by the 15th June and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Dr. Alyssa Dweck will be back at 3-4pm, Thursday 18th June to answer your questions.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

* Do we still have the prize draw if she bails?*

A real peeve of mine is how oblique mumsnet is about competitions and surveys etc

Never ever give a draw date. Ever!

TheHoneyBadger · 29/06/2020 16:03

We haven’t had an answer.

JustineBMumsnet · 29/06/2020 16:30

Hi all - we'll be back with answers very shortly and also running the prize draw this week. Apologies for not being able to give a bit more clarity just yet.

Thanks

JustineBMumsnet · 02/07/2020 13:43

Thanks all for your questions. We're still on the case with answers, but the winner of the prize draw for asking a question is @Nottheshrinkingcapgrandpa Grin

I think you need to draw a line under this @JustineBMumsnet

She was going to answer questions
She revived some proving and challenging ones
She went silent on you

However you should still have the draw and think that today or early next week would be reasonable.

Atadaddicted · 10/07/2020 07:16

“She received some probing and challenging ones”

HousesforChickens · 10/07/2020 07:26

I have to have a nap every day for at least an hour, normally early evening.
I have pernicious anaemia (treated with b12 jabs) and I'm also Vit D deficient.
Thyroid levels are fine, so are iron levels.

Would this work for me? Thanks!

SnowyMouse · 10/07/2020 12:56

How can I make my bedroom sleep friendly?

Atadaddicted · 16/07/2020 06:42

Hello @JustineBMumsnet??

Atadaddicted · 23/07/2020 06:39

Thus is really unprofessional @JustineBMumsnet

JustineBMumsnet · 23/07/2020 09:39

@Atadaddicted Sorry for the delay, we hope to post the answers in the next few days

@JustineBMumsnet

I think that moment has passed!
What about the prize draw?

JustineBMumsnet · 23/07/2020 11:40

@Atadaddicted the prize draw for asking questions has been run - the winner was announced in a post on this thread on the 2nd July.

@WarmCinnamonZoflora

Does getting older inevitably mean getting tired quicker and going to bed ever earlier, like my very old mother who is in bed by 7.30?
Hi WarmCinnamonZoflora,

Aging is different for everyone. While certain aging patterns can be hereditary, there is no guarantee that you will have the same experience of aging as your mother. So much relies on lifestyle. There are many habits you can adopt to improve your overall health as you age, with diet, low-impact exercise and hydration being at the top of most physicians list of recommendations.

@BristolMum96

I have suffered from fatigue for nearly 4 years. I am constantly feeling tired and could sleep most of the day and night if given the chance. I have had many check ups at the drs and nothing has come back. Do you think your product could help me?
Hi BristolMum96! It's worth a try. Tru Niagen® contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, and a normal functioning of the nervous system, which may be of help to you.
DrDweck · 30/07/2020 15:35

@Asuwere

Is try niagen a quick fix or a long term supplement? What are the ingredients? There is surprisingly little information on the website, other than several 'buy now' buttons.
Hi Asuwere. You should consider Tru Niagen® as more of a long term supplement to support your health. The ingredients are NIAGEN®, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Hypromellose (Vegetarian capsule), and Vegetable Magnesium Stearate.
DrDweck · 30/07/2020 15:39

@SchoolisCool

If this affects your metabolism, would you gain weight if you stopped taking it?
NAD+ levels have not been shown to affect weight, as much as body composition (e.g. a decrease in fat mass and increase in lean mass). There are no published studies that link NR supplementation to meaningful weight loss or weight gain. Furthermore, there is no published evidence that suggests stopping Tru Niagen supplementation leads to weight gain - although this has not been specifically tested in human studies. Keep in mind, the more energy you feel, the more you might increase exercise which can result in weight loss.

@LiveintheNow

Fatigue is a symptom in many health conditions, particularly autoimmune - shouldn't the first advice be to go to see your doctor to rule out any underlying issues?
Hi LiveintheNow. Yes absolutely, particularly if sleep disruption and or chronic fatigue is worsening, persistent or recurrent
DrDweck · 30/07/2020 15:44

@seriousandloyal

I take magnesium supplements to prevent fatigue. Is this the most efficient method and is there anything else I could do?
Hi Seriousandloyal. Magnesium seems to be at least somewhat effective for muscle cramps (the type that occur at night and awaken us from sleep due to pain) possibly for anxiety and definitely constipation. This is a good first step, but further work up may be needed.
DrDweck · 30/07/2020 15:47

@TheCatsHouse

I find if I have had a stressful day I am a lot more exhausted. Is there any way I can help myself with this? (Aside from eliminating the stress!)
Without doubt, stress is an energy drain both physically and emotionally. Diminishing stress overall is definitely paramount. Try mindfulness exercise to start each day (I recommend apps like calm or headspace). Make exercise a must! Diminish or moderate caffeine and sugar, both of which cause physical effects that may mimic stress (rapid heart rate, elevated breathing rate, elevated perspiration)
DrDweck · 30/07/2020 15:49

@InMySpareTime

I have ME/CFS, not found that any supplement has helped my PEM or fatigue. The only thing that is effective for me is rest and managing my energy levels to slowly build up activity. Magnesium helps reduce my leg pain, iron helps reduce my hair loss, and vitamin D helps me keep moving during the winter months. My question is: Does your product help alleviate ME/CFS symptoms, and if so, have you approached any of the bodies that represent this community (ME action, Action for ME, Millions Missing etc) to provide official treatment for ME sufferers?
There are studies linking low NAD+ levels to CFS, suggesting that boosting NAD+ levels may be beneficial. However, we do not currently have any human research evaluating the effects of Tru Niagen® supplementation on ME/CFS and recommend consulting with your doctor prior to use.
