This week we're running a Q&A with Pampers baby yoga expert, Sam Petter.

Sam Petter is also the owner and founder of Tatty Bumpkin which she set up in 2004 to provide a creative children's programme inspired by yoga. Tatty Bumpkin is a character at the centre of yoga-inspired movement stories, incorporating music, storytelling and postures inspired by yoga. The award winning classes are delivered nationally, anywhere there are LO’s and parents looking for fun!

Pampers, together with Sam have developed a new, natural baby yoga routine with simple, easy-to-follow stretches that you and your LO can practice at home.

Baby yoga can be practiced safely from 6 weeks old and has many benefits including helping to improve sleep and encouraging movement, so you can enjoy a lovely bonding experience together that’s doing some good too!

Post your questions to Sam here before 18th May and we will send her 20 questions to respond to. We will then post her responses back on the thread on 22nd May.

This Q&A is sponsored by Pampers.

Thanks

Do you have any tips for practising yoga with a toddler and a baby (at the same time!)? It strikes me that this could be a lovely thing to do all together, and to help cement the bond between baby and toddler but that it could also be a bit of a challenge! Are there any classes where you can take babes in arms and toddlers?

What do you do if you have one of those babies who just wants to crawl off during a baby yoga session?

Pimientos100 · 12/05/2015 19:21

My little boy (9mths) suffers terribly from constipation. Someone told me that yoga might be able to help? Is this true, scared to try it on my own in case I get it wrong and somehow make the constipation worse!?

How does baby yoga compare with baby massage? Benefits of one over the other? Can they complement each other if both done? And what age is 'baby' yoga suitable up to i.e. at what stage would it become more kids yoga or adult yoga moves - because of big difference in ability from young baby to older baby / toddler.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 13/05/2015 09:23

Hi,

I've never done yoga although have heard lots of good things!
I've just always thought it's not 'active' enough for me and prefer other forms of exercise such as running or tennis.

Would you like to convince me why I should take it up for myself & my DC?

Thanks.

My LO is nearly 2 and this morning started to try out some postures with me - very very cute. Is there anything in particular which I could encourage her to do other than lifting her arms in the air or downward dog?

Whyisitsodifficult · 13/05/2015 14:32

My dd is just two, I've never thought about doing yoga with her before. Where would I start? Books? Or would a DVD be easier for her to copy? Quite like the idea now!

CopperPan · 13/05/2015 17:10

I am interested in yoga for my toddler as I've done yoga classes as an adult but I'm worried she wouldn't stay still long enough to pay attention! How are classes adapted for a toddler and what happens when they get bored after five minutes and want to get some toys out?

LJH79 · 13/05/2015 20:06

My last baby had severe reflux and was would often scream and therefore I would find it difficult taking her to classes. Do you think baby yoga could help with settling a reflux baby and would it help with the sphincter muscle to develop?

ninetynineonehundred · 13/05/2015 20:46

I have a toddler and a five year old.
Could I use this type of yoga with them?

rachaelsit · 13/05/2015 21:00

Is it too late to start with my baby who is 11 months old?

DoItTooJulia · 13/05/2015 21:05

At what point does the relaxation/meditation side of yoga become suitable for Los? And how would you introduce it?

Emily1992 · 14/05/2015 14:20

I'm suffering from SPD could this help me to deal with this? I have 7 weeks left Smile

VickiAston · 14/05/2015 14:29

My daughter has an umbilical hernia, is it safe for us to take part in baby yoga. If so, are there any specific moves we should avoid?

griselda101 · 14/05/2015 16:21

where and when did baby yoga originate? it sounds quite new but am interested to know about its origins.

janekirk · 14/05/2015 18:16

At what age would you expect a toddler to do some simple yoga postures by themselves?

SweetPeaPods · 14/05/2015 21:47

I've got a little boy with reflux and cmpa. He is a sicky baby and hates lying flat. Will yoga help or should I avoid? Thanks

StickChildNumberTwo · 14/05/2015 22:13

Would I be able to do baby yoga myself if I can't find a class locally, or do I need instruction to make sure I do it properly?

odi1 · 14/05/2015 23:09

My one year loves to move around and manages to get into some wonderful positions but she also can get very overstimulated and hard to settle at bedtime. Can yoga help to create a calmer bedtime, if so what would you recommend?

heavensabove123 · 15/05/2015 01:47

Can yoga help a baby to be calm?

Tummyrumbled · 15/05/2015 05:05

Did a mum and baby yoga-it was the best class I did. We did it from when by baby was 8 weeks until she was 8 months.

InAndOfMyself · 15/05/2015 13:45

I missed my chance to do yoga with my babies, their toddlers now; is there much chance of getting them interested as toddlers and would the same benefits be seen, e.g. Help with calmness and getting restful sleep.

leanneth · 16/05/2015 09:24

Would you recommend doing baby yoga 1:1 and do this while my other children are at nursery or include my other children and use it as a family experience

kungfupidge · 16/05/2015 10:02

i really don't see the point in baby yoga what are the main benefits of doing this with my child thankyou.

KateOxford · 16/05/2015 19:44

What age can children participate in baby yoga - could my 2 year old participate or is it just for babies?
