Non tester - my tip (learnt from a builder friend) is if you're drilling a hole in a wall use masking tape to stick an envelope under where you're working. It'll catch all the masonry dust making it much easier to clean up after.

If your light switches have seen better days but you don't want the hassle or cost of replacing them, you can buy decal stickers on Amazon for a couple of quid each. They come in hundreds of different designs including some great ones for children's rooms. They are easy to put on and turn something that looks awful and you want to hide into a real feature. They also do a limited selection for plug sockets, which I could do with as well but mine aren't the right dimensions for the decals available.

We're starting (finally) to renovate our house 3 years after moving in and we're really bored of the usual places to buy things from.
It took a while to find the right person when we arrived but everyone was lovely and super helpful and the greeter at the door was great.

The store is HUGE - there's sections for absolutely everything, including hot tubs, an enormous garden department and a soft play near the back which makes things a bit hard to find but means you can buy every there rather than going round the houses.

We spend half of our voucher on some edging for te garden and a door number for the house which will hopefully stop the postman grumbling at us Grin

We're definitely heading back when it's a bit quieter to get more bits for the garden and to design a kitchen with them - they had some really nice kitchen designs and they're a,king the cheapest we've seen.

I'd highly recommend it, especially if you hate having to visit loads of different stores - it's literally all under one roof!

My tip is to paint the back of large squares of wallpaper samples with your paint sample colours. You can then move these onto different walls in the room to make sure you like the colour in different light situations. You can also take them with you when shopping for soft furnishings etc.

My tip is try using chalk paint and new cupboard handles to perk up old furniture and save yourself the expense of buying new. I have done this several times and it has transformed the room with a minimal cost. Also when trying out different paint samples , paint them on a4 pieces of paper and use blue tack to change their position. Often paint samples change on different walls and at different times of the day.

Non-attendee here. My best home improvement tip is to watch a quick online tutorial before you try something new. There is so much information online now, it's crazy not too take advantage of other people's expertise.
