We have been asked by the team at No7 to find around 100 MNers to come along to their exclusive MN event on Monday 27th March in Shoreditch, London (between 6.30 and 9pm) – the event is all about "returning to work with confidence”.

It’s open to all women who have either recently gone back to work after a break for children or who are thinking of going back to work after having a baby (1st, 2nd, 3rd or subsequent!). You will be welcome to attend on your own or with a friend who is also just back to work or thinking about a return.

The event will offer the opportunity to interact with the team at No7 and share your thoughts. There will be a fantastic panel of speakers, including Carrie Longton – Mumsnet’s Founder – and Anna Whitehouse aka Mother Pukka. A couple of other special guests will be revealed on the night. In addition, there will be free make overs during the evening and each attendee will receive a fab No7 goody bag - you will be able to enjoy canapes and a glass of something fizzy and delicious Smile. Note, there will filming and 'Facebook Live' streaming from the event.

Here’s what No7 has to say about the event:

"At No7 we believe that when a woman feels in control she has the confidence to go out and do anything and so we are delighted to have the opportunity to support MNers and bloggers who are returning to work. We know that beauty for many women is about more than looking pretty which is why we’d love to give MNers the chance to hear from some inspirational women on how they faced getting back in to the workplace as well as share some top tips from our No7 advisers on quick ways to get their make up just right - especially in those early days back at work when you're juggling a million things at once and getting into a new routine."

After the event, we would like all attendees to share their feedback on a thread on Mumsnet - if you're a blogger, we'd love to see a blog post or social post about your return to work (or plans to) and the event.

All those who share feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will win a £300 Boots voucher. We'd also love attendees to share their thoughts on social media.

If you would like to attend the event, please register your interest here. We will be in touch with attendees asap.

thanks
MNHQ

Hmm not sure about this. Basically linking confidence to wearing make up?

Oooo! Goody Bag. Love a goody bag. Wish I could go but I'm at work. Grin Would love to be in a job that insisted I wore make-up and nice clothes. Being in a uniform and out there with the boys isn't all that!
Bet some of my male colleagues would love to be spoilt, wear make-up and get a goody bag.

It sounds wonderful, I really wish I could go but I'm currently still breastfeeding and can't leave the baby in the evenings. Ooh maybe I should make my own goody bag to have at home... I deserve it, right?! Grin

Due back to work in June and feeling very nervous, much more so this time around. I need to get back in the right mindset but having two young children doesn't leave much time for my own thoughts!

These things are always in London.

I am sure putting on makeup will helped me remember how to do my skilled job.

This sounds right up my street. My daughter has just started school and I put my career on hold while she was tiny. Having had a busy corporate career I've found it so hard to get back into the groove. A make over and a being with people in similar situations sounds just what the doctor ordered

Quite concerned about a make up brand doing this ( with quite mumsey presenters too) getting back to work is more about honing attitude and aptitude not what you slap on your face

I'm not missing bedtime for No. 7. Nars maybe.

So women need makeup and other cosmetic products to feel confident at work? What do men need?

Bah to it being in London!

I've just gone back to work after 8 months of maternity leave. I don't wear makeup, because my mornings are spent baby wrangling. I barely brush bloody my hair!

Fortunately I work in a very casual office!

My opinion is that the getting back to work issue is far, far more complicated than "ways to get their make up just right" and reducing it down to a 'tee hee, so hard to swap those trainers for heels, right mummies?' cliché is damaging and patronising.

Put some money into apprenticeships for career-changing women, or training schemes, or collaborate with companies on getting women back into work the way some banks have done. That is how a company really helps women back to work. Not by trying to flog them a lipstick and telling them to believe in their dreams.

If only that were true...
I think the event is a great idea and I'm glad that a big brand is putting its name behind it.

Never mind the make up - seriously not interested in that.

Is the list of speakers now finalised, and what are the titles of the talks?

(The 'revealed on the night' is a bit of a turn off to me too. If I'm making a choice about giving up an evening, I want to know what for - so perhaps a timetable, so I can see how much of the time given to talks look useful (and how much is unspecified) would help).

Final confirmed speakers are:
Carrie Longton, co-founder of MN
Anna Whitehouse - mother and blogger
Alice Olins and Phanella Mayall - Alice and Phanella are the authors of ‘Step Up: Confidence, Success and Your Stellar Career in 10 Minutes a Day’ - they also lead regular workshops at corporations, getting straight to the heart of the career conversation in the workplace.

Plus one more (TBC)

The structure of the evening is:

6.30pm: arrive
6.45pm: Panel discussion featuring the above on "returning to work with confidence"
7.45pm-9pm: Drinks and canapes - opportunity to engage with No7 (make overs!)
9pm: goodie bag and depart

I won't be able to stay till the very end due to child care commitments hope thats ok.

I'm reading so many negative messages here but I don't think thats the idea. Recall No7 is a Boots brand so look at the bigger pics here ladies. Maybe it'll be nice to have the panel discussion available for those that cannot attend so as to settle these doubts.
