Amazon Haul hits and misses: what's worth buying?

RayaMumsnet · 11/05/2026 17:22

Bargain hunters will probably already know about Amazon Haul, Amazon’s cut-price shopping section that launched in the UK less than a year ago.

It’s full of cheap finds, from cosmetics and stationery to party bag fillers, but there’s also a lot to scroll through. And as with any bargain bin, not everything is going to be a triumph.

So we’re asking Mumsnet users to share their Amazon Haul hits and misses. What’s actually worth buying? And what should the rest of us swerve? Here are some wins we’ve found so far:

Funny Office Notebook Journal

“One of the best things I got from Haul so far are these notebooks, they are good quality and make a great little gift for anyone working in an office. There's a variety of (in)appropriate covers in different colours.” WhereIsThisGoing

Baggy sweatpants

“My Teenage DD was after some wide leg joggers and found these. They are absolutely brilliant. I got them with the 70% off and I’ve just done a second order for the rest of the colours with the 50% off. They are slightly thinner than normal sweatpants from H&M but that's better for my DD.” Nickdrakeslovechild

Laundry sacks

“I’ve had great success with the stocking fillers from Haul, but the best thing by far were the giant laundry sacks that I used to wrap the biggest presents. We switched to fabric bags for family gifts. I got the green and the silver (which is an actual shiny silver) and they looked and worked great.fishfingersandchipsagain

Don’t forget, you can get free delivery for orders over £15

I did an Amazon Haul order a couple of months ago. And for the bits and Bob's I got, I would definitely say, You get what you pay for.. It might sound a bit harsh, but the quality of the stuff was more along the lines of wish dot com when they first started out.. Sorry.
But that's just my experience. I also would love to hear any positive experiences.

AllTheChaos · 12/05/2026 13:50

That’s interesting, @DollyPartonsLeftnip, thank you. I had wondered if that would be the case! Also, given trading standards have found that so, so much sold online through third party resellers doesn’t meet UK safety standards, I wonder about what Amazon has (or hasn’t) done to ensure all products are fit for purpose etc.

Swerve the whole lot. Promoting 'hauls' is so irresponsible: environmentally (China to landfill pipeline of tat), excess consumerism, and creating misery in posters who haven't got two pennies to rub together but value Mumsnet for the advice.

Completely agree. The world needs less cheap tat and Amazon needs less of our custom

EverythingIsComputer · 12/05/2026 14:09

I was surprised Amazon launched this recently, it seems like something that would have been popular 10-15 years ago but now surely everyone realises the overconsumption is so unfriendly to the planet now.

Glitterbiscuits · 12/05/2026 14:10

@RayaMumsnet please don’t publish this stuff. It’s like Shein and Temu. We need much less plastic and tat in the world.

Bristolandlazy · 12/05/2026 15:02

Nothing, we've all got enough.

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 12/05/2026 15:05

Yeah it’s just the same as Temu isn’t it? And it does seem to be stuff that no one really needs but is tempting due to low price points.

rumblegrumble · 12/05/2026 15:17

Well, I have morals so obviously I don't go near Amazon and would never buy 'hauls' of cheap plastic tat made by slave labour.

honeybeetheoneandonly · 12/05/2026 16:00

I got some surprisingly nice things but it's mainly crafting related items. Sometimes normal Amazon is cheaper, so I usually check both. I also got two dresses on haul that I expected to be rubbish. They were less than £1 (I got them for DC to design something with) but they were really nice and fit perfectly and are worn often.

Lifeomars · 12/05/2026 17:34

I dislike the word "haul" and associate it with mindless consumption. All that stuff, where are people going to put it other than in landfill in a few weeks/months/years. I used to shop far too much, it made me happy in the moment, it was the act of buying rather than the thing I bought. I could still drift into it again but am trying hard not to

Notsureaboutthatreallyy · 12/05/2026 18:30

Haul - no thanks

DilettanteRedRagger · 12/05/2026 18:39

Amazon Haul is disgusting; it just proves how much the products on “regular” Amazon are overpriced now, and that price is determined by Amazon charging 2-5x the cost of goods for fulfillment. In a world where AI can help outsource 3PL directly from Chinese factories and demand a quality level that’s quantifiable, this bullshit isn’t going to be acceptable for much longer. The product is only worth $0.10, add $3 for “Amazon fulfillment”, and then the rest is basically profit, so practically minting money.

Amazon are just helping Chinese companies make it easier to dump subpar stock in the US and UK and get around anti-dumping laws and, in the US, de minimis charges.

Happyjoe · 12/05/2026 18:41

Just looked at what's shown. It's just tat. Waste of money and just landfill.

This. It’s disappointing to see this being promoted by MN.
