At what age did you introduce your baby to cow's milk, and how did you integrate it into their diet? What do you wish you had known? Perhaps you are at this stage now and have found an approach that works for you? If you have older children, do you still encourage them to drink cow's milk as part of their diet?

I introduced cows milk at around 13m - kept putting it off, I started 50/50 with formula to start with.

My espernice was adding cows to formula in stages, from around 12m - at the same time started on cows milk fromage frais and baby desserts.

I went with my HV advice and my instincts following our weaning journey having baby yoghurts and getting the digestive season used to cows milk. From 12m we went onto blue top milk - bought organic at first, then onto regular blue top

I decided not to introduce cows milk to my two after watching a 5 minute video on YouTube called ‘Dairy is Scary’. I did further research through nutritionfacts.org and now thankfully the whole family is dairy free.

I introduced in gradual stages from 12 months, and then giving dairy yoghurts and puddings from14 months.

Dd- 6 weeks when she needed formula top ups. She probably got sips full fat milk as a drink when she started solids and if it was in whatever food we had.
Ds- sips of full fat to drink when he started on solids and in his food.
Moved to semi skimmed when ever the guidance suggested back then.
I ate and drank dairy throughout feeling them my milk.

From 12 months per guidelines - but in stages with formula

Montydoo · 29/12/2024 09:48

At 6 months I gave cows milk in cooked foods: porridge, mashed potatoes, pancakes, cauliflower cheese (sauce) etc.
At 10 months I started giving cows milk cold in cereal.
At 12 months I will began replacing one bottle a day with cows milk slightly warmed.

I breastfed and skipped formula but introduced cow's milk in food from weaning (6m). I can't remember when I let them first drink milk but I didn't actively introduce or avoid dairy, it just happened.

Beabeautiful · 06/01/2025 07:58

I used cows milk in weaning, in small amounts, and in formula to top up from 12 months. I only buy organic -and wholly avoid any Arla milk

violentknight · 14/01/2025 22:08

I use lactose free milk myself as I find it easier to digest, so that is what I introduced, slowly alongside breastmilk.
