Factor 50SPF everyday!!

Marketa85 · 15/06/2022 19:04

We use the mist/ spray sun protection on the kids (Lidl own brand) as they hate the feeling of a the cream from a bottle. Also parasol or gazebo in the garden for extra shade. Kids are being chased to wear hats (with our two year olds it takes few attempts!!)

Sallypally0 · 15/06/2022 19:06

Put your ice cream on your body and drink the suncream.

Sam1904 · 15/06/2022 20:10

Suncream first thing in the morning for the kids before school. Caps to protect their heads and a water bottle.

Wisteria1979 · 15/06/2022 20:20

F 50 sunscreen / hat etc but also high neck rash vest for kids and similar for adults. Size up so it feels more like a t shirt but then collarbone area and back of neck which easily burns are covered.

amc8583 · 15/06/2022 20:24

Always apply sunscreen, especially in the forgotten places like back of the neck and top of the ears. Also be mindful how long sunscreen protection actually lasts. It is often the case where one application for the whole day isn't enough.

I feel lucky to live in scotland where I dont have to worry too much about protecting myself in the sun. However, if it is warm and sunny its just as important. I like all day protection. Its a good idea to avoid miday sun and plan activities around the weather and take shade or go indoors after a while. Young kids just shouldnt be out for long periods.

ButterMyMuffin · 15/06/2022 21:25

I have a natural advantage to this living in north east scotland and having to work all summer. Keep out the sun! Seek shade, plan activities in the morning and evening when cooler.

Start young so they get used to it, slap sun cream on the adults at the same time - good role modelling.
Really regular top ups.
Large sarongs/scarves are your friend for cover ups.
Use common sense.
My mum has skin cancer from years of exposure in the sun.
Be careful out there, even when it’s cloudy.

ElenaSt · 15/06/2022 22:33

Avoid as much as possible being out of the sand between 12 and two when it is at its strongest. Choose that time to stay indoors or in the shade.

ElenaSt · 15/06/2022 22:34

Sun not sand ^^

hannahbjm · 16/06/2022 12:17

My 7 year old daughter and 1 year old find putting sun cream on such a battle! I use a flat foundation brush especially on face, neck and ears to apply it and solves the tantrums and applies so much better so i dont miss any bits

lillypopdaisyduke · 16/06/2022 13:19

sunscreen, put on 20-30 mins before hitting the sun, a UV legionnaires hat, white cotton clothing, and plenty of drinks.

AdoraBell · 16/06/2022 14:31

Long sleeves, hat with wide brim and frequent application of sunblock. Also avoiding the sun between 11am and 3 pm in UK and 10am to 5pm in hotter climates.

Nicolarer · 16/06/2022 15:07

Slip. Slop. Slap

An old Australian skin cancer campaign
Slip on a t-shirt,
Slop on some suncream and
Slap on a hat.

Also

Between 11 and 3 sit under a tree.

HALA · 16/06/2022 17:53

I always wear an SPF cream on my face, and a hat and sunglasses as well if it is sunny.

Rae1000 · 16/06/2022 19:46

Use factor 30 or above sunscreen minimum, stay out of the sun as best you can, wear hats

SweetSakura · 16/06/2022 19:51

We plan our days so we are out of the sun for the worst of it. Either head out first thing and be done by noon, or head out mid afternoon onwards.

ChimChimeny · 17/06/2022 07:09

Oodles of sun protection and sunglasses, DD always wears. A uv swim top on the beach/waterpark/pool abroad and in the UK in the garden if it is very hot. Lots of water to drink, and shade/indoors for lunch when it's the hottest part of the day

ohdannyboy · 17/06/2022 08:41

Spend time in the shade, particularly from 11am to 3pm
Use at least SPF30 sunscreen with high UVA and UVB protection
Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before children go out to areas not protected by clothing, such as the face, lips, ears, feet and backs of hands
Keep sun protection handy—in your car, bag, and reapply during the day – every two hours and after swimming, exercising, or towelling off – even if the product is waterproof or water-resistant.
sun can burn when its cloudy too !.

CaughtUpAgain · 17/06/2022 10:36

A waterproof sunscreen is better, even if you are not swimming, as it protects you better if you sweat.
Apply the sunscreen 20-30 minutes before going outside, and at least every 2 hours. If you swim or sweat a lot, use it more often.

ButterOllocks · 17/06/2022 11:20

UV suit for the little ones playing out, sun cream, hat- bucket hats good for us ! ice lollies and light coloured cotton clothing

burwellmum · 17/06/2022 12:40

Sun cream of course but my DC are very fair so always a t-shirt and hat as well

frogface69 · 17/06/2022 12:46

The best sun creams are the waterproof ones. I always use them . And a hat, essential to prevent sun damage on my face.
