This sponsored discussion is now closed. Thank you to everyone who took part.

Baking can be a fun way to challenge yourself, spend time with your children, and impress everyone at the birthday party. But baking could also be an inspired way to support a worthy cause.

As an Official Sponsor of this year’s Macmillan Coffee Morning, Betty Crocker is inviting you to rise to the occasion and whip up some support for Macmillan’s campaign to help people living with cancer. Regardless of your baking skills, Betty Crocker could help you whip up beautiful and delicious cakes*. That’s why, Betty Crocker would love you to share a picture of the bakes that you’ve made with your family in support of <a class="break-all" href="https://coffee.macmillan.org.uk/?utm_source=www.mumsnet.com/&utm_medium=partner%20&utm_campaign=b_c_partner_wbcm_signup&utm_content=b_c_mumsnet_sponsoreddiscussion" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Macmillan’s Coffee Morning.

Here’s what Betty Crocker has to say: “This year, Betty Crocker and Macmillan Cancer Support have joined forces to encourage the nation to do whatever it takes to get involved with Macmillan Coffee Morning 2020.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Macmillan needs your support now more than ever to enable to them to continue to provide vital support for people living with and affected by cancer in the UK. Betty Crocker is an Official Sponsor of Macmillan’s Coffee Morning happening this September and you can help too.

The official date for Macmillan’s Coffee Morning is Friday 25 September, but you can take part whenever suits you best. This could be by setting up a virtual Coffee Morning online, hosting a socially distanced Coffee Morning safely from your doorstep or by taking on an exciting new challenge altogether. For more information on how to take part in Macmillan’s Coffee Morning, visit <a class="break-all" href="https://coffee.macmillan.org.uk/?utm_source=www.mumsnet.com/&utm_medium=partner%20&utm_campaign=b_c_partner_wbcm_signup&utm_content=b_c_mumsnet_sponsoreddiscussion" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">their website.”

Whether you prefer to keep it simple and use a Betty Crocker cake mix, follow an old family recipe passed down through the generations or use the cake ideas in the <a class="break-all" href="https://coffee.macmillan.org.uk/?utm_source=www.mumsnet.com/&utm_medium=partner%20&utm_campaign=b_c_partner_wbcm_signup&utm_content=b_c_mumsnet_sponsoreddiscussion" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Macmillan Coffee Morning fundraising kit, take a picture of the cake or bake that you have made with your family and post it on this thread.

We'd love to see as many Mumsnetter bakes as possible, so get that apron on and your oven pre-heating. We’ll be randomly selecting one lucky MNer who posts a picture of their beautiful bake on this thread to win a £100 voucher for a store of your choice (from a list), organised and provided by Mumsnet. The closing date of this prize draw is 25th September 2020.

Thanks and good luck!

DD's lovingly made lockdown 9th birthday cake. Made by her as dairy free because her best friend is intolerant.

She used Betty Crocker chocolate frosting inside and then melted as a glaze as we discovered it's dairy free.

A great find and and we now use it all the time.

Well that didn’t work - trying again! DDs dairy free Betty Crocker chocolate birthday cake

Not a massive fan of packet mixes - but when baking with children - Betty Crocker mixes are a simple idea to make a lovely chocolate cake, however i do prefer to cream my butter and sugar, and add my eggs and flour - here's my lockdown cherry cake

I made some mini lemon meringue tarts for work, last McMillan day, and will make the same again for close family and friends (wfh for the forseeable - so no treats for work). With regards to Betty Crocker, I have a pack in the store cupboard - and some eggs, so may well get this out and 'whip up' a tasty treat for after school.

lillypopdaisyduke · 08/09/2020 14:02

oops.....here's the cake

Our DD loves it when her dad teaches her to bake, this is their first attempt at sausage rolls.

The child's verdict "they are the same as Greggs but a little bit better" Grin

A massive 3 tier Betty crocker Devils food cake, completely slathered in chocolate fudge icing. Had to transport that in the car which luckily was only up the road but still pretty dicy!
