Hi MNers! Smile

We wanted to let you know about the Natwest Everywoman Awards which @Carriemumsnet is helping to judge this year as the nomination period has been extended to 9th July. If you're a budding businesswoman (or know someone who is) do consider applying or sending in a nomination.

The awards are in their 16th year and celebrate the success of Britain's top female entrepreneurs at all stages of their journey – from innovative start-ups to established multi-million pound organisations.

A number of prestigious awards are up for grabs including the Brand of the Future Award, given to the founder of a business that shows great potential for growth, and the Woman of the Year Award. The awards are a great way to raise your profile - find out more here.

Good luck!

Lets face it someone who chooses to go through a gender life change is going to have a bit of something about them

That’s one way of putting it, I suppose Hmm

Surely you are not implying that they are more brave or stunning? Female socialisation shouldn't be something to use against women in an award supposedly looking for women entrepreneurs.

Bit of something male

You just get more awesome with every post, ripple.

Thank you so much for telling women what we should and shouldn’t concern ourselves with. How would we manage without you?

TheRollingCrone · 08/07/2018 15:24

Will it be cock free?

BeyondRaggydoll · 09/07/2018 00:10

🍿 anyone?

StopPOP · 09/07/2018 07:05

Yup, honestly, my first reaction was also "What do they mean as woman?"

And that's desperately sad. We came so far, then had the rug pulled from under us.

What would be the point in entering now? If a biological male who identifies as a woman wins, then a biological woman who may have clawed up a ladder will miss out.

If a biological woman wins, it may be deemed transphobic.

It's a bloody nightmare.

And I can (possibly wrongly) imagine MN having a rolly eyed moment at this topic appearing on this thread, but it just goes to show how problematic it is Sad

IAmLurkacus · 09/07/2018 08:46

Has there been a response yet to what definition of the word ‘woman’ they’re using? I’d like to think the dictionary one, but these days you never know.

MyRelationshipIsWeird · 09/07/2018 09:38

I was going to enter this but then realised that being a boring old common or garden woman of the cunty type, I wasn’t brave or stunning enough. I’m just bumbling along, being a single mum, providing for my DCs and juggling 3 businesses and a home. And I don’t wear high heels or false eyelashes. Nothing to see here.

thebewilderness · 09/07/2018 18:46

If they changed their legal sex and name by deed poll they can't very well be told no or disqualified. That would be discrimination.
