Like us, we're sure that the majority of you are relieved to see the end of the cold, dark, and wet months of winter (although it doesn’t quite feel like it yet!) and are welcoming spring and summer with open arms. The arrival of warmer days, bright mornings and longer evenings for many of us means it’s time to get outdoors with the family.

Here at MNHQ we would love to find out your thoughts on being able to connect with other families for shared and group outdoor activities such as: organised walks, visits to nature trails and areas of outstanding natural beauty, and other fun stuff for parents and kids to do together.

What sort of activities would make you consider joining an outdoor network with other families? Would you like to be able to connect with families in your local area or from further afield? Perhaps you have ideas of how this network could be run/organised? Are you already part of a group of families that organise outdoor activities together? If so tell us about it!

Whatever your thoughts are about connecting with other families do to outdoor activities, please comment on the thread below and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

We have a group locally which has other parents in and we regualary meet up to do things so far things like outdoor bbq's and picnics, going for walks locally around different venues, playareas but we have also been talking about activities outdoors further afield too. It works really well and its something I want to continue and my kids really love. Walking is great fun when you are exploring new areas together with friends

Nature walks may be fun, getting to meet other like minded parents in the local area.

We have done this with school friends throughout all the major holiday periods. Normally once a week at a different place each week (mostly dependent on weather forecast) on a very fluid basis. sometimes you can make it other times you can't but have done biking, walks, play areas, country parks, the beach etc. Kids love it and mums all get to chat.

Good idea to get out and about. National Trust amazing places to visit. People chat freely. Good fun is all we need

Simply: don't.
Ours is young and a handful. At the moment it's easier to not deal with other people's babies too.

a game of rounders, everyone always gets involved!

My daughter is an only child so we tend to meet up with other families quite often when planning a day out. My daughter and her "far away" friends from London enjoy the Tank Museum in Dorset - lots of fun to be had with running around pretending to be soldiers and dressing up!

runkaterun · 23/05/2018 21:43

This is a great idea. Hope someone can make it happen

Lisapaige24 · 23/05/2018 23:27

I always go out for with my children plus my sisters children so that’s more than enough kids without adding other people’s children in the mix I do love outdoor activities but I don’t think joining other families on outdoor activities i don’t mind playing in the garden with other kids but not on a day out

Jill2Gillian · 25/05/2018 06:19

Great idea for families who are new in an area and don't know anyone. I found once my daughter started school I formed a network of like minded parents who love the outdoors.

theresacoo · 25/05/2018 10:45

sounds like fun. a group activity would be great, can get local knowledge from others if you don't know an area,
