With National Teacher Day coming up on the 8th May MNHQ would love to know the phrases you remember your teachers always saying….also if you are currently a teacher please share the phrases you most commonly use during your classes.

Do you have strong memory of one of your teachers always using the ‘I’m not angry just disappointed’ line? Perhaps whenever your teacher was annoyed at someone they would say ‘It’s your own time your wasting’? Or maybe as a teacher you’re becoming known for saying one phrase in particular?

Whatever phrases you remember your teachers always saying, comment on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

I went to Catholic school and remember my teacher saying "If you're old enough to come to school, you're old enough to go to church". This was immediately after telling off any kids who hdn't been to church that Sunday - we were in reception class!

I remember one teacher always said we could walk around the world in the time it took me to say a story :)

My favourite teacher always used to say ''oh my giddy ants'' if she caught you talking in the classroom.
It still makes me laugh when I think about it.

vonniebab2 · 06/05/2018 18:07

My teacher's phrase was always " hello am I invisible " - if only!

You are such a pleasure to teach! No wonder i got bullied by my brother throughout school for being a teachers pet!

You want to try and pay attention instead of wasting your time bothering people who want to listen , ..... didn’t like school!

Sid98 · 09/05/2018 22:00

If you want to be a success you have to listen to everything i say.

kirstycooper01 · 09/05/2018 23:04

Think what you are going to say before you actually say or write it! Edit your thoughts to sound more professional.

I remember repeatedly being asked/ told to "share with the class" when caught chatting at the back!

Always at just the most juicy point in the gossip, too ;)
