Never had a problem with fussy eaters at home although friends' visits sometimes a bit more complex!

Plenty of fresh fruit and veg served throughout the week and I've always done lots of stir fry veg with fine chopping so I can incorporate a lot of difference. Loved the more recent focus on cauliflower and roasting it and I do try to preserve as much of the precious nutrients as possible. Smoothies are a joy as you can add all sorts and be sure that a)kids are nourished and b) less waste.

It's part of the every day diet, a few needed a few tries before accepted

Doodygirl2009 · 24/01/2018 12:15

We make smoothies with all different fruit and veg

DS has had issues with texture so I keep re-introducing fruit and veg with something else that he likes (peas or sweetcorn). Eating with him really helps and us mentioning how delicious F&V tastes.

I have always tried to encourage my children to have fresh fruit on their weetabix, or honey, as it's a very important meal for the day and I tell them it's going to help them concentrate on their work at school, exceed in everything they do. Pancakes are always another way to have fun with fruits and toppings for your breakfast. We have been out berry picking and made some delicious smoothies. Vegetables are so easy for me. I think it's really important to get excited about eating vegetables, with children, from the moment they start eating food. For a roast dinner, we often have cauliflower cheese, but we like to add broccoli, carrots and sweet corn in to give it a lovely taste, makes a difference in the colours on your plate. Kale and potatoes steamed together with grated ginger, a little green chilli and salt, cooked on a low heat, is a great tasty meal, served with chapatti. Salad with any meal, sandwiches, and I think it's a great idea to use rocket leaves, baby spinach, and various mixed greens, colours and textures like olives, peppers, courgettes, feta, pickled vegetables and various salad dressings. We love our fruits , vegetables and salads in our home. ♥️💋

We love fruit cut into slices, i.e Melon, Mango, apples and sprinkling half a teaspoon of ice cream sprinkles onto low fat creme fraiche! The sugar in such a small amount of sprinkles is negligible, but make the dessert seem really fancy.

My son is 4 and often asks for fruit and veg as snacks, so I don't really need to convince him to eat it. I have always just offered healthy snacks before he can have anything else, and I try to have a good variety in the house so he can have a choice.

My kids love veg when mixed with beetroot. They love the colour change the beetroot juice gives other veg and they eat their coloured veg no problem.

mclarkie · 25/01/2018 12:59

Chocolate fondue for fruit, cheese fondue for vegetables :)

MrRichTea · 25/01/2018 16:58

Make it fun, else I've got no chance! lol

cwalliss82 · 26/01/2018 05:08

My DCs actually love fruit and veg so it is not a problem but I increase their intake by adding many vegetables to casseroles etc.. so that they get even more goodness

Minnibix · 27/01/2018 13:48

I let them help with growing vegetables, kids have such a curiosity about everything, it always tastes nicer to them if they have grown it themselves. I let them choose (up to a point) what veg they want to eat and never force them to eat something they really don't like, I can get them to eat most things but not Brussel sprouts :D

With fruit I like to do fruit kebabs with a large mixture of fruit apple, pineapple, mango, kiwi or sometimes berries and let them dip into a little chocolate sauce or passion fruit coulis

ellie17 · 27/01/2018 14:29

a little melted cheese on broccoli or cutting fruit and veg into funny shapes.

farqualar2 · 27/01/2018 21:21

Don't make a big deal out of eating them and set an example

nettymay · 28/01/2018 11:47

I always got my children to prepare some fruit and veg with funny faces - they especially liked making 'legs' with carrots!

lexy2009 · 28/01/2018 13:48

I get a new fruit and veggie every week and the kids help prepare it

myboycraig · 28/01/2018 17:09

My baby is 10 months and eats all fruits and veg offered luckily.... Long may it last Smile

ptak5566 · 28/01/2018 21:00

Don't stress too much just set a good example yourself, make sure you add fruit and vegetable daily and anything they say they don't like just chop up small and add to different dishes, eventually they will just eat them .. mine did!!

omgitslani · 28/01/2018 21:15

To be honest, my little ones have always been so good at eating fruit and veg so I haven't had many problems with encouraging them to eat them. I think it helped that I introduced lots of different flavours and types from as early on as possible. We do occasionally do fun things like make faces with pieces of chopped up fruit or veg.

svalentine60 · 28/01/2018 22:40

I'm diabetic and make a lot of green smoothies for myself and my children. Adding green vegetables with strawberries and blueberries is a great tasty way to get them to eat fruit and veg.

Pimmpom · 29/01/2018 09:38

Just made it the norm to include fruit and veg in everyday meals. I find if you don't stress about it they will just eat it.

12LuDo · 29/01/2018 23:41

My daughter (who is grown up) dips fruit in chocolate, lets it harden then sprays it with silver fondant spray, so it looks really different. For every day eating habits though, I think providing a wide variety of options can sometimes help, to keep things interesting.

phillie1 · 30/01/2018 08:30

When they were younger, did fruit ice lollies, and fruit salads with lots of different shpaes in them, not they understand they need to eat them to be healthy
