The couple of weeks (or so) holiday from school at Christmas time can be a long slog once the ‘big day’ is out of the way, especially if the weather is not very kind.

NOW TV would love to know your top tips on keeping the children entertained during the winter school break - do you brave the sales, snuggle up for a movie afternoon, encourage long wintery walks or dig deep and go to soft play? How about some baking or crafts? What about older children? Do you limit device time or allow them some extra time with their tablets? When do you get any holiday homework done? What do your children like doing in the Christmas holidays?

NOW TV say “'With NOW TV, we have a host of family movies lined up for the festive period - from Frozen to The Polar Express and even the classic Sound of Music! Families can also enjoy newer movies like Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them and The Lego Batman Movie - all from the comfort of their own front room'

Whatever your tip or best advice for other parents, add it below and you will be entered into a prize draw where one person will win a £300 voucher for the store of choice - from a list.

Thanks and good luck

Theater and cinema, lots of TV!

Always get them involved in arts and crafts at xmas time, easy passed onto friends and family as presents

maryandbuzz1 · 03/12/2017 19:11

We do a variety of activities together.
We make dough and and then mould into shapes and bake it hard and then paint.
We gather natural objects and make monsters with them.
We go swimming regularly and come home to have hot chocolate and ‘chill’ with a hot chocolate watching tv.

lolly2011 · 03/12/2017 19:16

We make cakes, decorate a gingerbread house and other arts and crafts, they play on the computer, watch a film together and we go out for walks in the park with friends.

footdust · 03/12/2017 19:22

A couple of nice longwalks every day - good for releasing excess energy for both the dog and the kids, then at home lots of craft stuff as they both love painting and making things, baking and then some afternoons snugggle up on the sofa and watch a film.

IonaAilidh11 · 03/12/2017 19:30

lots of crafts and baking

Jade5093 · 03/12/2017 19:32

Welly boots on and get them out in the woods collecting things
Then bring them back and make some sticky pictures... paint pinecones etc.

bridge16 · 03/12/2017 19:34

we love doing baking, going on forest walks, snuggling up with christmas films and popcorn and wintery family football games followed by hot chocolate!

Catmadroo · 03/12/2017 19:49

cheap christmas craft from bargain shops, movies, we are lucky to be near a zoo and have membership so can always go there, also my son loves bird watching so walk in the woods etc

tia3456 · 03/12/2017 20:00

Country walks, crafts, board games, movies, visiting family and friends, and make sure the kids get their homework done before Christmas Day so it is out of the way and they can enjoy the holiday

xcxcsophiexcxc · 03/12/2017 20:02

I love playing board games with the family, doing things together wether that be a walk or a king etc

towser44 · 03/12/2017 20:07

Plenty of kids movies on the TV Box (Frozen, Cinderella etc)

towser44 · 03/12/2017 20:08

Definitely Olaf's Frozen Adventure

MrsDramaQueen · 03/12/2017 20:10

My trick is to wear them out so that they are tired. We do soft play and board games. In between Christmas and New Year the kids are too busy playing with their new toys.

mave · 03/12/2017 20:18

Pantomimes, Christmas films, arts and crafts, invite their friends over!

Lauzipop1 · 03/12/2017 20:38

Lots of arts and crafts which usually involves lots of glitter and sequins. We also love to have family movie time complete with snacks and drinks.

Ohhh and of course playing and setting up all the new toys.

ninamotylinski · 03/12/2017 20:58

I absolutely love finding christmas films and programmes to watch and even better if they are from my childhood. Snuggling up on the sofa cuddling my children and watching them is just bliss

Sezza110 · 03/12/2017 21:03

We bake.

DinosaurSex · 03/12/2017 21:17

I fill a crafts box throughout the year to give on the 1st december - that's keeping my son busy this year but we are only on the 3rd!

pfcpompeysarah · 03/12/2017 21:25

We tend to the movies at our local shopping outlet complex, go for walks along the beach all snuggly wrapped up, bake cupcakes and muffins at home and just generally get cosy on the sofa and watch telly.

Spices001 · 03/12/2017 21:34

We are fans of movie afternoons wrapped in throws on the sofa with hot chocolate

amyhalliday1 · 03/12/2017 21:36

We have all the days on and off - some snuggle days and some homework days xx

farhanac · 03/12/2017 21:38

The house is usually full of visitors and relatives which keep them entertained

feeona123 · 03/12/2017 21:43

There's lot on the TV so some nice films do fill in the afternoon. If the weather is dry then it's lots of walks to get some fresh air as well.

dul4hw · 03/12/2017 21:53

Walks, crafts and we usually visit a few of the local museums.
