The couple of weeks (or so) holiday from school at Christmas time can be a long slog once the ‘big day’ is out of the way, especially if the weather is not very kind.

NOW TV would love to know your top tips on keeping the children entertained during the winter school break - do you brave the sales, snuggle up for a movie afternoon, encourage long wintery walks or dig deep and go to soft play? How about some baking or crafts? What about older children? Do you limit device time or allow them some extra time with their tablets? When do you get any holiday homework done? What do your children like doing in the Christmas holidays?

NOW TV say “'With NOW TV, we have a host of family movies lined up for the festive period - from Frozen to The Polar Express and even the classic Sound of Music! Families can also enjoy newer movies like Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them and The Lego Batman Movie - all from the comfort of their own front room'

Whatever your tip or best advice for other parents, add it below and you will be entered into a prize draw where one person will win a £300 voucher for the store of choice - from a list.

Thanks and good luck

Baking, crafting, games, a grotto visit, a nice walk followed by hot chocolate and great Christmas movies!

Shippers1987 · 10/12/2017 16:49

Stick some upbeat festive tunes on, me and my daughter have a good dance, she can be dancing for up to an hour, is good excercise too great when the weather is not so great!

Visits to the park followed by fav films.

peronel · 10/12/2017 17:14

Take them to laserquest. We all run around; they get tired, I get fit; win, win. Wink

juju3 · 10/12/2017 17:53

Very hard to drag them away from the TV but try to get out on adventure walks - does us all good

chrisstreet · 10/12/2017 19:17

My son loves 'horrible histories' so I expect it will be lots of that and then going to see family and friends so that he can burn off loads of energy playing with his cousins or friends. Failing that you can't beat popcorn and the quilt snuggled up watching elf or another Christmas movie

wef1984 · 10/12/2017 20:07

We watch christmassy films or do some baking

Sillysausage123 · 10/12/2017 21:07

Over the xmas holidays we definitely make more of an effort to spend time by watching xmassy films and snuggling up with lots of treats

mamof3boys · 10/12/2017 21:56

I try to get them to do some baking but it's hard to get them off their electronic devices now that they are older. They do still enjoy a game of football though

cluckyhen · 10/12/2017 22:21

Holiday homework asap so that you can have lots of fun! Pick a movie each per day so that you can all have some tv time and above all stop bickering with trying to maintain some routine.

sweir1 · 10/12/2017 22:50

We try to go out as much as possible. Having a zoo membership helps a great deal

lolamia91 · 10/12/2017 23:05

lots of festive crafts

bc1616 · 11/12/2017 00:11

Let them decorate plain biscuits with tubes of icing, they love it

upthehammers · 11/12/2017 01:24

we have a family movie each evening, crafts and baking during daytime and I also allow some extra tablet time

JayJay1874 · 11/12/2017 02:15

Snow is a godsend for keeping the little ones entertained even though it makes travel a nightmare. Some time on the sledges, building snowmen and a wee snowball fight is always good.

In the house, doing the decorations, baking christmas goodies and watching christmas films all help.

diddiebiddie · 11/12/2017 02:29

Wrap up and go for walks - snow an added bonus
Watch some classic films together
Play lots of board games together as a family

lastkisstoo · 11/12/2017 03:00

We go long walks with the dog. Sledging and building a snowman if we get snow. Lazy mornings and movie days. We also love the time to play all the new games that Santa brought.

snare · 11/12/2017 07:12

We try to get outside and spread out activities with staying in :)

Ferryfairy · 11/12/2017 07:30

An activity advent calendar, with baking, craft, going to the beach, watching favourite film, choose what you like days.

howling · 11/12/2017 07:59

lots of visiting family and friends

piggypoo · 11/12/2017 08:39

Walks, we have a park literally at the bottom of our road, and will be exploring there again, I get them in the kitchen baking, and then we will use up all the bits of all wrapping paper to do craft projects, if after that, they still want something to do, they can help with the housework!

jazzitup · 11/12/2017 08:45

Keeping warm, makeing decorations and we do love a panto.

Pimmpom · 11/12/2017 09:21

Nothing better than a wintry walk followed by hot chocolate and a family film!

strikingstarlet · 11/12/2017 09:33

The Christmas holidays for us are about being together, my husband is in the Forces and so away a lot, if he is back for Christmas it’s a very cherished time and we really don’t need a lot to make us all (3 girls and 2 adults) happy. We like to cook, play board games, go for walks and enjoy wine (hot chocolate for the kiddies) and snuggle at night!

Dessallara · 11/12/2017 09:42

Crafts and Activity books... Oh, and a cheeky film time to time :)
