To help celebrate the brand new My Little Pony movie, the team behind the film would love to champion the beauty of friendship - and learn about the tips you have for helping children build lasting friendships with their school mates, neighbours and pals from clubs etc.

Do you gently suggest ways of making and keeping friends, encourage play dates to deepen friendships, or have other ways to guide them through the sometimes tricky path of childhood friends?

Here’s the movie synopsis

“A dark force threatens Ponyville, and the Mane 6 - Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rarity - embark on an unforgettable journey beyond Equestria where they meet new friends and exciting challenges on a quest to use the magic of friendship to save their home.

The film has an all-star voice cast including Emily Blunt, Kristin Chenoweth, Liev Schreiber, Michael Peña, Sia, Taye Diggs, Uzo Aduba and Zoe Saldana. The movie features original music and songs performed by Sia, Diggs, Saldana, Chenoweth and Blunt."

I make sure I guide and advise frequently on small friendship issues and work more at making my kids being the empathic, friendly one and its usually reciprocated.

As other have said, play dates and socialising builds their confidence, and builds relationships, make sure they`re comfortable and happy and the rest will work out great.

leading by example being sociable and teaching them to be kind to others

Getting to know the parents and meeting up as families in half term etc really helps build the friendships

I look back at how I made my life long friends - they are a mixture of people that my parents introduced me to and people that I found myself at play school and school, trust their judgement

My daughter is an only child so we have to remind her to share! We invite her school friends over for tea to encourage friendships.

Letting them see friends outside of school, going to school discos etc. My two DS are best buddies but my eldest has best friend at school, they've been inseparable since nursery.

Teach children to share while they are young. My son was an only child but he shared everything .

Plenty of play dates it worked great for my eldest ds and dd. My ds is still best friend with his mate since nursery. (18yrs now) However it hasnt worked for my youngest DD who has ASD she absolutely hated play dates. she has just one friend but even that friend cant come round because she just wouldnt cope with it.

We try to expose our children to different social situations with all different ages to give them confidence in lots of different scenarios.
