Let’s just spend a few moments dreaming about winning the lottery! How would you spend a big windfall? The National Lottery would love hear who you would share your winnings with if you scooped a life changing Lotto prize?

Here’s what The National Lottery have to say: “Amazingly there are over 4,600 National Lottery millionaires now in the UK winning £1 million or more. And what’s lovely to hear is that 95% of winners say they share their jackpot prize with family, charities and friends; with one third helping their children first.*

Real winner stories:

· Matt – I paid off Mums mortgage aged 28… it was the best feeling in the world
· Trish – I’ve set up investments so that years from now my son will be a millionaire just like me
· Natalie – before the win mum gave us so much help with the children, it was amazing to take her on a dream trip to New York to show her how much we love her and appreciated all her support.

That’s what they did, so now tell us: Who would win if you win? Who tops the list of those you would treat and why? "

…would it be giving your DH the ‘boys toy’ he has always wanted?

…or perhaps rewarding Mum & Dad for all their help and support over the years?

…how about an all-expenses paid girly holiday in the sun?

…or is there an individual or community project you’d love to support and help make their dream a reality?

…or how about you invest in a holiday house that everybody can enjoy for years to come?

Everyone who posts on this thread telling The National Lottery about who they would share their Lotto winnings and how will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck,

I would definitely buy a house as I'm currently renting I've always wanted to own my own home go on holiday preferably a cruise as I've always wanted to go on pay my debts what I have outstanding invest into my partners business so I can be part of it too or buy another premises which is better than what he has expansion and growth is a good thing would have to treat my family to a meal too could give them some money but it would all depend on how big the win is

alleye · 06/07/2017 17:51

Well if I was lucky enough to win I would immediately buy my mum a home she's given up so much for us and deserve the best. I would like to be able to buy a house for my daughter and myself to live in rather than rent and I would insure my siblings had the homes paid off . I wonderful friend of mine is getting married so I would definitely pay off her mortgage and help with the wedding. I would donate money to dyspraxia awareness and some other lesser known educational we related charity groups. I think it is important to ensure you get back. I have always wanted to set up a charity myself and would do that. I would make sure my DD has an investment property for when she grows up and funds to pay her educational requirements. I drive a £450 car but I don't think I get a new one because this one still goes. I will pay it forward insuring those who need help get it and helping some friends of mine with their bills. I would love to take my day-to-day on holiday to visit her grandmother and my family in Australia as we have never been there . It means I could go and pay for the family to have a reunion after so many years it's important to have that family matters children matter their education matters. Maybe I could get a haircut I haven't had one in five years and in my own colour using 1 pound, colour from the pound shop. But it wouldn't change my buying habits. Share the joy I sayand to know I could pay my bills without a panic attack that would be awesome

I would give a certain amount to each of my adult children, buy our house (we rent) and then travel the world. If I won several million then there are certain family members and friends I would give money to. Best of all, I would be able to get my mum the best care as she is 86 and has dementia and passed the point where we could continue to care for her at home.

Amandamacdonald123 · 06/07/2017 18:22

I would donate money to memory lane in paisley in honor of my mum who sadly passed away from early onset dementia after 10 year fight . They where invredible with my mum and really need the help to carry on with a valued service

Cailin7 · 06/07/2017 19:06

I am in a lottery syndicate at work so we would share the winnings.

mum2benicole · 06/07/2017 19:15

The first thing on the list would to invest in a car for the kids to get the to nursery and school mostly for awful weather.
Second would pay off my mil and fil as they helped pay for our house move and the change would go in to bank accounts for the kids for when there older so they have the start in life I didn't have 😘

musicalprof · 06/07/2017 19:30

I've always said that I would never want to win a huge amount, as it would feel such a responsibility, but my OH has said how he would give a proportion to particular charities, put in trust to generate ongoing income for the future. He has it all worked out!

As far as the family is concerned, I would want to set up a trust fund for my disabled DD, to take care of her when we are no longer around to do it. I would also want to do something similar for her younger brother, who hasn't been able to experience so many of the things that his friends have (because having a disabled member of the family does change your life & can limit your choices as a family), but he has never complained, never been resentful & has SO much patience.

Then I would need to do something for my Mum & my PILs who have stepped in so many times to help out financially when money has been beyond tight; having a disabled child can be financially crippling.

Then there would have to be something that's just plain fun!!!
Oh to dream... 😊

jandoc · 06/07/2017 20:36

I would share it with Bob

user1496053440 · 06/07/2017 20:44

Buying my mum and dad a big house would be the first thing I would do. And then I would buy one down the street!

rhinosuze · 06/07/2017 20:48

I'd send my mum on a world cruise and buy a house so my daughter has something to inherit. Would also love to pay my best friends mortgage

Fiddlestikks · 06/07/2017 21:10

I'd do a lot of sensible things - dream home, learn to drive, set up children financially for life, make sure all my family are secure. Actually, given how bad I am at driving, I might not have any money left after learning!

As for more shallow stuff, I'd get a personal trainer. I can be in the shape I want to if I can be bothered. I just don't have the time or money for a personal trainer right now. Ther personal trainer would be followed by a personal shopper.

And then there would be charitable stuff. There are causes I've previously given time or money to, so they'd probably be the ones to benefit.

Msqueen33 · 06/07/2017 21:13

I'd buy my dds 1:1 support at school a house as she's amazing with my dd who has asd. I'd buy a larger family home, a house for my brother and give some to my mum and dad. And also I'd set up a trust for the school to buy resources and help support kids within education especially children with Sen.

sharmanda · 06/07/2017 21:22

If I was lucky enough to win the lottery the first thing I would do would be to buy a house.
After years of renting and feeling like I'm missing out on having my own home (even though I'm renting and have tried to make it ours it will never be the same as there are limits to what we can do).
I would love to be able to give my children the space to run around, explore,to have their own bedroom. There are so many things I would be able to do if I owned a house and I have so many ideas on what I'd buy, what I'd love in a house etc.
It's a big dream of mine which I now is not likely to become a reality.
I would also love to go to Disneyland Florida as for years I've wanted to go to Disneyland Paris but never been able to afford it and I'd like the opportunity to treat my children and husband to a special holiday.

Mozarmstrong · 06/07/2017 21:27

I would share amongst my family and my loyal friends. It would make me soon happy after struggling for many years. I would also give to charities close to my heart and youth clubs/education centres that desperately need help in funding. Oh if only!!!

heyday · 06/07/2017 21:42

Everyday of my life I dream of winning enough money to buy a family home so that we could finally live without the threat of constant eviction. Then I dream of getting some of the thousands of children in the world, who are too poor to go to school, into education. Then I would love to help alleviate the suffering of animals. So many dreams........if only they could come true.

WheresTheCoffee · 06/07/2017 21:48

I'd repay my mum's years of endless support by buying her a dream home and taking her on holiday.

NotQuiteSoOnEdge · 06/07/2017 22:36

I'd find a big lottery win quite hard to deal with. I'm late 40's and have never particularly cared about money. I'm aware I have enough to be ok without too much worry, which is lucky.

I'm the poor one in my family. My dad and mum have both ridden the post war boom to the max and are v well off. My sister owns a successful company. It would definitely alter the family dynamics if I could pay my way, rather than accepting help from them.

I'm a single mum on benefits, through ill health, and have an ASD child who is a full time job. I have a house that has had unfinished building work and some bare plaster walls for nine years now, due to the fallout from the DCs abusive dad. To be able to fix it, and give my DS(10) and DD(7) their own rooms would be lifechanging.

I think I would probably move. Make this house habitable and sell, and leave our city. My son has significant emotional harm. He feels most ok within himself on surf beaches, camping and being out in all weathers. I'd get a house where he could run down to the sea with his board in a wetsuit, and perhaps he'd grow more at peace with himself. Money can't really buy what he needs, but a wild, free environment is where he could grow into himself, so that's where I'd like him to be. That's what a lottery win would mean for me.

sweir1 · 06/07/2017 23:21

I would divide it up between family first then look to help the local community somehow

boobybirdsworth · 07/07/2017 00:00

It would depend on how much I won! I'd share with close family and would love to help lots of the smaller charities around that struggle for donations as they can't afford huge campaigns unlike the larger ones :)

dadshere · 07/07/2017 00:18

If I won the lotto I would first of all pay of my mortgage and buy a house for my sister. I would also start a college fund for my daughter and my nephews and niece. If I had anything left, I would treat my parents to an anniversary cruise.

JuicyNectarine · 07/07/2017 00:24

I'd sort things out for the other parents of disabled dc I know because money would help.

Devilishpyjamas · 07/07/2017 06:28

Depends on how big. If a big Euromillions win I would be looking to set up some sort of autism/LD residential service for the most complex cases to secure the future of my eldest. But realistically would need a massive win to do that.

A more moderate million Wink - I would look to financially secure the future of us now & my younger two and if close family/friends needed help I would enjoy being in the position to provide some. I would also buy a hot tub or sensory spa for the service where my son resides.

Spitzbergen · 07/07/2017 07:14

I would buy a house. Then i would buy my parents a house, as they've never owned before. I would then travel. Everywhere! Spend a lot of time in the sunshine and treat my friends.

Eyre89 · 07/07/2017 07:46

It obviously depends on how much you win. But I'd buy my mam a house as she has struggled and worked hard all her life. Obviously get on the property ladder myself and set up some investment for my sons future.

I'd love to rehome animals or foster them for charities something worthwhile.

And a holiday to Disney for my son, niece and nephew. I'm probably fairly boring but just to take the financial pressures and stress away from my family would make a huge difference.

KarenCBC · 07/07/2017 09:19

Apparently the lottery tell you to book a holiday initially to think about what you'd like to do after. We're seasoned travellers but I've always said I'd love to go on a long cruise first off. It's minimal effort, especially with the kids, and would give you a chance to really relax whilst seeing the world.... One can dream...
