Teaching your children about where their food comes from, and how it makes it from there to the table every day can be a great way to make dinner time more exciting. But Cadbury want to hear about the times your DC have been left to figure things out for themselves, and perhaps drawn some … interesting conclusions.

Whether they’ve developed an elaborate story about where milk comes from, or the look of shock and awe when they realise that their porridge oats were once growing in a field has been priceless, the everyday facts we take for granted can come as quite a shock when you’re a little one. So, if your child has come up with an inventive story behind why bananas are wearing jackets, or decided that fish fingers must have at some point been part of fish hands, share their ideas on the thread below.

Everyone who shares one of their child’s moosings by commenting on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher

Thanks and good luck!

I asked my DD, 5, if she wanted some Muesli, she started to cry, I asked her what the matter was, and she asked me if she'd been naughty, I was puzzled and told her no of course she hadn't, she then asked me why I wanted to feed her "from the bottom of Hammy's cage", Hammy, being the Hamster, she thought the Muesli had been the bits from the bottom of his cage and I was forcing her to eat it!

When staying on a farm when young my middle daughter loved getting very involved with the 'farm duties'. So when she excitedly came back with a freshly laid warm egg in her hand she said...look mummy, the hen has even cooked the egg for you!

My daughter thought that normal milk came from black and white cows and chocolate milk came from brown cows xx

DD (aged 2) went around the supermarket looking for "grandpa's cooking". She was very disappointed when we explained she could only have grandpa's cooking when we went to grandpa's house.

We walk our rescue greyhounds in fields near our home and in the summer there are cows in the field. They think that if cows eat buttercups they will produce yellow buttermilk.

My youngest told us chicken came from chickens, beef from cows and lavender came from lambs!!! Still not sure why she thought this but I like her thinking :)

DS was growing chicks from eggs at school. Luckily a quick Google search showed commercial eggs aee sterile otherwise that may have been one item removed from the menu

tootsieglitterballs · 09/07/2017 19:53

DS (2 1/2) refuses to eat pigs in blankets, but will happily tuck into sausages wrapped in bacon!

Lyn29 · 09/07/2017 22:57

My dd says things like- "I like steak but I don't like beef"

LookMaAStone · 10/07/2017 08:52
