When you think back to your childhood, do you have nostalgic memories of everyday life with your parents that give you a lovely warm glow? Cadbury’s Buttons have asked us to find out about the memories of everyday childhood experiences – the shared moments that put a smile on your face years later.

So, what fond family memories always make you smile? Is it getting a piggy back after a long day, or collecting conkers with your Dad? Maybe it’s learning to bake or having a picnic with your Mum? Perhaps it’s all sitting down to a proper roast dinner on a Sunday? Whatever your childhood memories are, please do share them below.

All MNers who post on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Making a den in the garden and then 'borrowing' cushions, cups, a rug, etc from the house to furnish it Smile

Having tea from the dolly tea set at my grandparents' house. Or spending hours playing with my Sindy dolls when i was supposed to be tidying my room

My dad worked long hours setting up his own business when I was a child. My best memories are of every Friday night when he would take me to the sweet shop and he would buy a crunchie and a quarter of mint imperials for him, a flake and a quarter of Kali (sherbet) for my mum and whatever me and my brothers wanted. The routine and time with my dad made me so happy. It really is the small things.

My dsis and I used to play 'families' with stones when on holiday with stony beaches - we'd literally collect lots of rocks and make them mum, dad, baby, sister etc. and play for hours. We'd also have rock 'bakeries' where we'd find ones that looked like cakes and loaves of bread then wee ones to use as money. Hours of fun, without a penny spent - my lucky parents!!

I remember the hours I spent playing in our garden - making mud and berry 'soup' and not having a care in the world! Ah, those were indeed the days Grin

Sunday evenings with salmon sandwiches and fondant fancies for tea. Playing in the garden on hot sunny days riding my bike and pushing my toy pram around to the 'supermarket' (our kitchen cupboards) where dolly could do her shopping. The old swing and the fun paddling pool. Making menus for everyone for Christmas day lunch. So many things!

Going home for lunch (yes I am that old, before health and safety went mad lol) and my granny having cooked me fish fingers, tinned new potatoes and parsley sauce yumGrin

Playing board games with my dad every sunday. I lost him when I was 10 to cancer but I still remember him teaching me how to play all these board games. Great memories.

Age 6 on a trip with my parents and their friends in France. All squishing into a tiny Fiat 500 and breaking down on a hill on the climb up to a monastery in the middle of nowhere and spending a lovely afternoon collecting snails in a fag packet (remember them!) whilst waiting for the breakdown recovery people to come. Much nicer than walking round a boring old monastary!
