Nurofen for Children have asked us to find out how Mumsnetters’ lives have changed since having children.

Here’s what they say, “It’s no surprise that 88% of first time mums reflect on having a baby as a life changing experience as they rework their normal routines to take care of their little one. During their baby’s first year, over two thirds of mums say they felt the biggest impacts on their relationships (65%), work life (65%) and friendships (55%).i

“Almost half of those questioned describe the first year as full of love and amazement.i during the early months in particular, 29% say they struggled with feelings of loneliness and over half (52%) felt that they had lost their identity since becoming a mum.i After friendships changed, 52% say they felt a need to make a new group of friends who could relate to their parenting experiences.”

“Nurofen for Children is trusted by parents – 9/10 parents who used it would recommend it to a friend.iii

“Nurofen for Children understands how daunting it can be going through so many changes, especially in the early months of parenthood. To help you through this life changing but magical period, you need advice you can trust and products you can rely on.”

So, what changes have you experienced since having children which you perhaps hadn’t quite anticipated? Perhaps you actually all of a sudden become a lot more efficient at doing things? Have you uncovered a hidden talent and become an expert fancy dress designer and creator? Or maybe you didn’t appreciate how it would now take you three times so long to get ready in the morning? Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

kids come first -always listen to them
my handbag is filled with all sorts of useful things I never imagined I would carry

angiehoggett · 24/11/2015 09:57

I'm more selfless than before and my thoughts are always about my child they are my top priority and affect every decision!

Pmliu · 24/11/2015 10:56

life is no longer just about me and my hubby, our kids comes first each and everytime

tanyavt · 24/11/2015 11:57

Taught me how to slow down and enjoy life more and what the important things in life are!

Angielester1 · 24/11/2015 15:08

Since having my son 15 years ago and my daughter 9 years ago, both by caesarean I thought that I would get away with having a weak bladder. How wrong I was!!! It takes me twice as long to get off the toilet after a wee than it takes for me to have the wee! I thought the saying was loose lips sink ships not loose lips keep me on the toilet longer!!!!!

Doodygirl2009 · 24/11/2015 16:40

Less sleep, no alone time, no nights out (we haven't been away from our children since they was born 4 years ago) no privacy when going to the toilet or having a bath but I wouldn't change any of it for the world

PhilTB54 · 24/11/2015 17:06

No time for yourself , no lie ins , no nipping down the pub and not really minding at all.

Daph57 · 24/11/2015 17:34

I struggled with loneliness, not knowing enough, great love, tiredness, and lots of demands on my time and energies

ha2el · 24/11/2015 19:02

I've become more connected with my siblings and parents. I used to only see them once or twice a year, but now I feel a connection as a family unit.

rupert23 · 24/11/2015 20:24

i have given up my ME time i am a mum of five. i love my children and everything i do is for them. i cant imagine my life without them. I ]feel that i am blessed even though i am tired.

Annbunce · 24/11/2015 20:53

What was surprising to me was how did I spend my time before I had kids lol x

cocochips · 24/11/2015 21:33

Having my beautiful DC's has healed me in ways I never thought was possible...it has helped me come to terms with the loss of my own mother, who tragically passed away when I was just 5 years old.

StandUnderMyUmbrella · 24/11/2015 21:36

I have to say that having a child made me a kinder person. I was only 21 at the time and i was a party girl and completely selfish, but suddenly i had someone else to think about and it wasnt all about me!!
My daughter has made me a completely nicer person and far more patient and calmer than i could have ever imagined!! xx

mulgrove · 24/11/2015 23:41

My life changed a lot and was very unexpected indeed my DC was very ill a year after being born, but i have learnt soo much in this time and yes i get no sleep and yes i get no time to my self and yes i have often put odds socks on lol but i would not have it any other way,

jayz268 · 25/11/2015 07:01

I didn't expect to feel quite so tired as I do at times!

Lucilulondon · 25/11/2015 10:10

You realise how much you can love someone so unconditionally and strongly - my DCs are the most gorgeous beings ever 💕

ser01 · 25/11/2015 10:47

I thought i knew unconditional love till my babies arrived, now I can honestly say i do, they have changed my life for the better, i really dont care about the lack of sleep, the extra bags and bit and bobs i need, im not bothered about me time, i love being a mum and my eldest i now dread leaving home.

becky004 · 25/11/2015 11:41

My hair which was my pride and joy is now lucky if it sees the inside of a hairdresser twice a year! Have not had a meal out with or a weekend alone with my DH for over 6 years.
But the joy DS & DD bring outweigh the luxuries I took for granted :-)

suzyq50 · 25/11/2015 14:02

Material things don't concern me as much, it's health & happy experiences of the family that matter

laurapotz · 25/11/2015 14:40

I am a bit of an introvert and not great at making friends. But since having my daughter I have made fantastic new mum friends and improved friendships with current friends who I didn't see / speak to very much.

meggysar · 25/11/2015 16:03

I seem to have turned into a jack of all trades. You name it I'll turn my hand to it!!

jt75 · 25/11/2015 16:10

Like jelly and ice cream and can make chocolate cornflakes.

xxgeexx · 25/11/2015 16:12

it's the longest i have ever gone without leaving the house with a newborn baby lol x

Gilla01 · 25/11/2015 17:37

I eat far more quickly than I used to - and am definitely not so picky.

My bag has to contain wetwipes and snacks.

Privacy has disappeared.

mumpetuk1 · 25/11/2015 19:13

I worry about them all the time
