Ever been able to retire, the Government keep changing the goal posts. I am extremely lucky to be in a final salary scheme but for some reason despite all the warnings about shortfalls, it has not been closed to new starters which will be detrimental to existing participants, selfish I know but so much has changed since I first started paying into it. It is even more frustrating when you find out that those who have never worked through laziness will get the full state pension. The other worry is the state of the NHS, every week there is more bad news and the Government seem incapable of any direction.

My biggest concern would be financial security. Am considering putting money into ISAs over pension funds od insurance schemes.

StandUnderMyUmbrella · 09/08/2015 11:25

I worry about the cost of living and if i will be ok. Although where retirement is concerned, i do tend to be ignorant and not think about it as much as i can and tend to have the wrong attitude of worry about it when it approaches!

JWalker23 · 09/08/2015 11:36

I think my concern is about how much I will have and how much I will need as its so long until I will retire.

cheryl100 · 09/08/2015 12:19

I worry that firstly I have to work until I am quite old and won't get to enjoy my pension and secondly that my pension won't be enough. I pay into a employer pension whereby they top it up but I don't know whether I should pay more into it or save seperately

castleton · 09/08/2015 12:40

Having enough money to live on

sarah3875 · 09/08/2015 13:30

I find it very confusing where it is best to put our money! My husband has a fantastic pension scheme but my Dad lost so much money with his a few years back. I worry more about my parents right now.

sootyo · 09/08/2015 14:14

I do wonder if i will be physically fit enough to keep working in health care until I retire.

javentura · 09/08/2015 15:15

I guess my biggest concern about retirement is I have not put adequate funds in my pension. I keep meaning to put more but the cost of raising a family prevents that.

emmav6 · 09/08/2015 15:18

i don't earn enough to put into a pension so will be very concerned how i will live when older

ssouthurst123 · 09/08/2015 15:31

that my pension doesn't provide me with enough pennies

avery64 · 09/08/2015 16:15

When I started teaching my Dad gave me a great bit of advice not to just depend on my teacher's pension for old age but save what you can as well ie. don't put all your eggs in one basket.
He knew I would take time out to have a family and in the end I only had 23 years of contributions when I finally retired 6 years ago. So I squirreled some money away each month (sometimes only a few pounds but it became an established habit) The only problem has been that my retiring co-incided with the recession and low interest rates nevertheless the interest has been enough to prop up my pension without having to touch the capital which is fortunate as I paid married woman's stamp so am not entitled to a state pension in my own right.

Having a huge unexpected cost and not being able to afford it!

PhilTB54 · 09/08/2015 17:03

Failing health. Poverty & loneliness.

mummyto2boys01 · 09/08/2015 17:17

With the cost of living rapidly going up my biggest concern is that we won't have enough for us and our boys

Kangakate · 09/08/2015 17:44

My husband and I have had private pensions for about 10 years and work pensions for a few years, I worry that it won't be enough for us to live comfortably when were older esp with a mortgage still to pay and the cost of utilities constantly rising

Jezzamk · 09/08/2015 17:47

Not having enough money to live on. I have always paid into a pension at work but the final salry schemes were closed and money transferred to defined benefits that have not performed well. I now feel it is too late to build up a suifficient pension pot if I am to have enough left to live on right now.

I have not got a lot of faith in pension providers to get a good return for me. They all seem to be able to earn good fees and commission but the returns to savers are low and this is made worse by the current low interest rates.

topgunmatt · 09/08/2015 18:13

My biggest concern is not knowing who to trust. Everyone seems to be an expert. And most seem to be after commissions rather than giving good advice. There are also a lot of unknowns in planning for retirement, both personally and in the economy. It has been proven that most of what the government says as well as the banks cannot be trusted.

blue25 · 09/08/2015 18:31

I worry that if we may still be paying our mortgage when we want to retire.

baconbap · 09/08/2015 19:16

having enough pension

dandanrawlings · 09/08/2015 19:41

Whether or not ill be able to live off the money I would get in a pension

mumtowoo1 · 09/08/2015 20:01

having enough money to enjoy our retirement.

janeoho · 09/08/2015 20:07

i worry that by the time i retire, the government will hike retirement age to 75! I think i'll be in either really bad health by then or dead!! I want to retire at 60 or 65 when i still have time left to enjoy myself.

aurorablues · 09/08/2015 20:17

Not having enough money.

laurapotz · 09/08/2015 20:19

I worry about not being able to retire comfortably. We are planning well but there are still so many unknowns.
