MolluDab have asked us to find out which children’s health niggles Mumsnetters wish they’d know about before they became a parent.

Here’s what MolluDab say, “Becoming a parent throws up many challenges none more so than the countless, often highly contagious, health niggles your children can pick up. One of which is Molluscum contagiosum. Molluscum contagiosum or ‘water warts’ is a common and relatively harmless (but highly contagious) viral infection of the skin. The spots are easily recognised, and are small dome-like shiny pimples often grouped together. Molluscum contagiosum occurs most frequently in children and young adults, most frequently pre-schoolers aged 1-4 years. The condition usually clears within 12-18 months without treatment but can last longer and causes those affected much embarrassment and self-consciousness. MolluDab is a new and proven treatment for Molluscum Contagiosum, available on prescription or from the pharmacist.”

So, which children’s health niggles had you not heard of before becoming a parent that you wish you had? What advice or information would you pass on about children’s health niggles to other Mumsnetters? Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it!

Everyone who posts below will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win a £150 voucher for Jojo Maman Bebe.

The comments on this thread may be used (anonymously) by MolluDab in future marketing material, so please only post if you’re happy with this.

Thanks and good luck,

Croup - my poor daughter has suffered from several times would like to have had some advice on how to treat and when to take her in to get looked at.

UnicornsPooFairyLights · 19/01/2015 13:45

Random nose bleeds, and projectile vomiting!

fluffyblueberry · 19/01/2015 14:24

I never really thought about worms and have had to deal with that a couple of times, which is a bit icky but at least the medicine seems to do the job! Also both mine had short boughts of constipation as toddlers.

Colic, I was aware of it, but didn't realise how violent the episodes could become and how many hours the screaming could go on for!

ktandspen · 19/01/2015 21:58

Rashes for NO reason!!
Scared a LOT with bumps and lumps that mean nothing!!
Allergies to Nettles for goodness sake!

Croup. I wasn't sure how to handle it when my son first had it, I would have liked to have been more clued up on it

nowitsenough · 29/01/2015 09:32

Projectile vomiting, rashes and high temperatures for no apparent reason, coughs that last for months, the fact that for a while they seem to be constantly ill, picking up everything that's going round.

nowitsenough · 07/03/2015 08:36

Colic - I'd read about it, but wasn't prepared for the reality of relentless crying, the worry, the fact it seemed to last for ages ..

Toddlers catching every virus going and being constantly ill for a while

Ear infections and the fact that calpol just isn't enough sometimes.

I checked and the ingredient in Molludab is the same in my oven cleaner! I'm not using that on my daughter. Found an all natural mixture called ZymaDerm which is working just fine.
