To celebrate the new Annie Movie - (at Cinemas December 20), the team behind the film would love to hear all about your own personal real life hero.

The team behind Annie the movie says "If you've seen the film, you'll know Annie forms a strong bond with the Jamie Fox’s character, Will Stacks. Stacks believes he’s her guardian angel, but Annie’s self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-come-out-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean it’s the other way around.”

Check out the trailer here:

We'd love to hear about someone you know in real life (or even on MN) who has provided you with support, or does good things which help you or your family. This could be a neighbour, teacher, family member, friend or someone in a particular job.

You don't need to give their real name if you'd rather not. Please share your hero on this thread - everyone who does so will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win £150 worth of High Street vouchers and a Sandy Plush Toy.

Thanks and good luck

My sister done my weekly shopping for me for 6 months when my agoraphobia got really bad about 3 years ago. I could never thank her enough.

pipersky · 13/12/2014 19:19

My twin sister has gone out of her way to help me through a really tough time lately. She has been an absolute rock - I never knew how much I needed her until I did and she certainly didn't let me down

Bobbylolly570 · 13/12/2014 19:38

My best friend, she's always been there for me through the hard times and been of great support. Nothing ever seamed to phase her, and when many others turned away when my son was very ill, she was the one person who stuck by me.

AnimalAddict · 13/12/2014 21:07

My dad. He's actually my stepdad not that anyone would know, he took on 3 girls and never let us feel like we weren't his. He's the most selfless, kind & generous person I have ever known and if I'm anything like him at all I'd be very happy. :) x

My Mum has helped me and my partner set up a new business. It has been hard but without her help, we wouldn't have done it. She suffers from Lupus and struggles, but she is always there for us

katieskatie1982 · 13/12/2014 21:50

A lovely family friend, who sadly died earlier this year at the age of 92 was a wonderful friend to my parents, myself and our Daughter. Over almost 40 years she was always there to help, listen and advise. We miss her very much and will never forget her or all that she did for us.

donnamitchell · 13/12/2014 22:06

When I was Going through a tough time with my daughter not sleeping my friend Nikki was always there to chat and provide advice when I was at the end of my tether. She was right - things did gradually get better.

My Sister is a great helping hand, even though she is suffering herself she still finds the time to help me out with childcare around my work commitments.
What a star!

brookson · 13/12/2014 23:25

my hero is my husband life would be so much harder without him

Lydia30 · 14/12/2014 01:38

My husband. 5 years ago we got a call from social services that we needed to pick our 2 Grandchildren up. Without going into detail, we still have them. My husband is not their 'blood' grandfather but he has turned his life upside down to look after those children (including changing nappies for the first time in his life). He also took over the running of the house when I became self employed.

Without him I do not know what would have happened to the children.

nicole101 · 14/12/2014 01:54

My mother is mine, she has been through so much in the last few years with overcoming breast cancer! She is always there to help in any way she can and always puts her family first!

beehummingbird · 14/12/2014 02:01

Kazzydizzle · 14/12/2014 02:12

My dads my hero, I guess most dads are - but mine is extra special :)

Rustedroses · 14/12/2014 04:43

#anniemovie my partners granny. Without her support I would still be struggling with getting my little boy looked after as well as my ill partner and trying to work, run the house and still having my sanity. It's been a year of struggles and she's been there for every one of them

daisychain01 · 14/12/2014 04:58

My SIL who is caring for my DBro as he is having ongoing treatment for an inoperable brain tumour.

She is so calm and cares for my DBro so much. She has never ever uttered a word of complaint or thought about herself. Her work in hospitals is saving lives everyday as she is a specialist diagnostic equipment installer.

A truly amazing person, love her to bits!

Ryancrawshaw · 14/12/2014 06:37

my mom - she has been there every step of the way with my first daughter who arrived 6 weeks early

hannahlw85 · 14/12/2014 07:39

A lovely woman who is a family friend called Helen. She has made it possible for me to remain independent with my health problems by helping me out with anything and everything. 0 years ago my mum got really ill and was in hospital for 3 months, she supported me and my brother in a way no one else did and really helped us through, and helped around the house when mum came home while I was caring for her. When mum dies 2 years later it was Helen that got me through that awful time and see reason to push through the grief and not give up and do something stupid. She had become like a mum to me and does so much even though she has her own gfamily and her first grandchild reaching 1, but still always has time for me. I couldn't cope without her help, love and support. In recent months I've been suffering an undiagnosed health problem that has made me really quite ill at times, shes help push my doctors to acting rather than just shrugging their shoulders, brought round healthy meals to try and encourage me to eat, and just generally been amazing. She really does have a heart of gold and nothing I could ever do would be enough to thank her for all she does

cathyov · 14/12/2014 08:31

My husband, he supports me and my three daughters and has given up work to look after his very poorly father and be there for his mum.

Summergarden · 14/12/2014 08:51

My mum, to most people comes across as a very quite, average individual. But I know I could ring her at any time of the day or night and she would drop everything to help me if I needed it.

She has also supported me in becoming a mother myself while letting me make my own decisions and not trying to influence me too much.

snare · 14/12/2014 09:48

mine is my hubby. He is the best father to our 3 children and so supportive to me :)

grannybiker · 14/12/2014 09:50

I have a special friend who's always there for me, despite a lot on her own plate. Not gonna "Hang it all out" here as she'd be VERY embarrassed!
