E.ON has a loyalty reward scheme which rewards customers for staying with them.
Here's what E.ON says about the scheme: "If you're an E.ON customer and you've been with E.ON for a year or more you could be rewarded for staying with us. You have a choice of taking rewards as Tesco Clubcard points or money off your bill. Further rewards are on offer for managing your account online or taking both fuels from E.ON. All you need to do is change to one of E.ON's tariffs with rewards."

Loyalty schemes are nice if your already a customer but wouldn't convince me to become a customer unless they really made a big difference. This particular one doesn't make enough of a difference!

Reward schemes

Tesco is the only reward scheme that has reaped good benefits for us and only because of the credit card, don't shop there any more.

As far as energy suppliers go, it's definitely a cost decision so if EON were the cheapest and gave tesco points then great but it wouldn't be a deal maker for me.

I like loyalty reward schemes and they do make me more likely to stick with a brand, as long as they are generally good value day to day as well as having rewards. If a brand is not good value, a reward scheme will not persuade me to use them, for example although I like Tesco clubcard points, I've switched to Asda as it saves me more money week to week. It also suggests that they care about their customers (or just want to attract more customers and increase their profits).

I would prefer money off my gas bill to Tesco clubcard vouchers, however given the cost of heating my house, £10 a year discount wouldn't even be noticeable. In order to be fair, I suggest that they should offer a percentage discount on each bill.

Love them! We've saved/earned bunches of money on them. You have to be smart about reading the T&C, but they are worth it.

I like E.ON, we used to have them (but left when another supplier offered rewards!). I'd MUCH prefer money off my bill to Tesco points.

I like to use loyalty schemes if they are appropriate for me, but as far as I can see, any incentive from eon would be negated by the cancellation fee.

There is certainly no motivation to move my supplier for £10 or points, the associated possible aggro is not worth it!

I didn't like the website either!

I like Tesco clubcard points and their exchange scheme where you can get vouchers for restaurants, themeparks etc, as they seem like genuine good deals that Tesco has negotiated for its customers.

However with energy suppliers I'd prefer clear and transparent pricing enabling me to make comparisons between providers. Not in favour of reward schemes which just confuse matters and make it harder to figure out what the best deal is.

I think loyalty schemes in general are fantastic, I used nectar card and boots advantage card to collect points. However I'm unlikely to switch utility providers just because they offer a loyalty scheme, good service an consistently low prices would be the only things to make me switch.

I would prefer money off my bill rather than tesco vouchers.

Depending on the shop and the loyalty offers, they can be great. I'll generally shop a lot at Boots, for example, because the rewards really add up and then Ill splash out around Christmas on myself or put the points towards presents. Same with Tesco Clubcard - we do our weekly shop there anyway, and I like their doubling up offers. A loyalty scheme in general won't entice me to a particularly shop/brand unless I've used it before, or it offers significant longterm savings.

I can't really see the appeal of them unless the tariffs are a lot cheaper. I'd rather chop and change from year to year to get the best savings. I do like the idea of getting Clubcard rewards rather than money off the next gas/electricity bill because it would make more sense to me and my spending - I'm used to my shopping fluctuating depending on what I buy, but I like to know I'm spending the same every month on utilities because it makes budgeting more simple.

They are OK. Boots is generous and works well. Tescos/Nectar I collecet them up and exchange for vouchers or Xmas shop so I do get something from them.

It would be nice to have some ££ off for loyalty.

HOWEVER I have a HUGE issue with energy companies and their lack of transparency as a consumer. I find it virtually impossible to compare prices and I find the whole thing confusing.
So If I do look at my supplier I do so via a comparison website and I've not come across a better deal that what I am on. Therefore E.ON's reward scheme is not enticing or relevant to me.

I'm afraid I am of the opinion that energy companies should just be supplying energy for the best rate possible. If they stopped spending money on how to manipulate and entice customers with fancy schemes, glossy brochures, expensive TV ads etc etc, they could dramatically reduce their marketing costs and therefore give the customer a much better price.

I am currently with eon for gas and we recieve clubcard points for our bills a whole 101 points on average per bill or 1 point per £2 spent. If this scheme is the same then I really would not be put off switching to a cheaper tariff with a different company as it is rubbish.

I think the ones with good points like boots ( especially on baby products) are good. Otherwise its only worth while if you spend lots of money somewhere eg. I shop in tesco mainly, so i build up an ok amount of points.

I think money off my bill. I think price matching would be a better idea. I would still change to a different suplier if I would save money, if the savings outweighed the reward ( and i would be bothered with the hastle). Its better than nothing though!

I look for the overall best deal, cheapest tariff for my needs. If that has loyalty scheme attached, then it's just a nice little bonus, but nothing more. What you actually get in rewards back for these is relatively very little, so no real incentive at all.

Only useful if you are also the cheapest. Fuel providers all do the same thing, so I look at the cost. If you have the cheapest tariff, then you add a bonus for loyalty - great.

I would prefer money off my bill, would be nice to have an either/or option. (eg sites like Top Cashback where you receive cash or Amazon vouchers) If Tesco have rewards that you want, they can be worth much more but not applicable to everyone.

In general I'm not that fussed to be honest but it is a nice suprise when the points are enough to get something good or a few pounds off but I guess they build it in to the price so I think overall I would prefer just to pay less

Again I would prefer to just pay less than have the bother of reward schemes but an annual discount for being loyal to a company would be good rather than shopping around all the time. Of the two options above I would prefer money off my bill.

I use loyalty schemes, but try not to be tempted to buy something just because it has extra points. If its something I want, and it comes with extra points then thats great. Or, if there are two products doing the same thing, for the same price, and one comes with extra points, I would go for the one with extra points.

I would prefer money off my bill. At the end of the day, its the cheapest tariff I'm after.

I like them but they're not an incentive for utilities. Energy suppliers' bills are complicated enough without having to work out whether a loyalty scheme makes a difference, so if anything I'd say they're unhelpful here.

I would want money off my bill, I don't shop at Tesco. I noticed though the money off is 'over the year' which I assume means I'd have to stay another year to get the full reward. The amount being offered wouldn't make me stay.

Also as an existing E.On customer, I'm now slightly annoyed that I have to switch tariffs even within providers in order to get the best deal. It's bad enough having to choose a supplier without having to also choose a tariff like a mobile phone contract.

Oh and on your website, FAQs does not need an apostrophe. :)

I like loyalty rewards schemes in general. I have Nectar, Boots and Waitrose cards. Nectar isn't that great anymore because AmericanExpress is charging £25/year annual fee now so we are cancelling that card (even though they say we will now get 2 points/£1 spent or something like that). I think it's the fact that they are charging an annual fee for not much that doesn't make it so attractive.
Boots is straightforward and the easiest to operate. I don't really shop there anymore, but more to do with difficulty in getting into town rather than any other reason.
Waitrose - we recently received £30 in vouchers from JL and it was great!! I didn't even expect that, so it was a bonus.

The £10/year money off is ridiculously little. It gives no incentive. It's less than a pound a month! how much electricity/gas is that? I think they'll need to be more inventive than that. Having said that, if I had to choose either, it'll be the money as I don't shop at Tescos although I suppose the points will be more valuable.

besides, E.ON are perhaps one of the more expensive ones around, so people aren't daft, especially not in the current economic situation. It's easy for many people to go on gocompare or moneysupermarket etc and compare rates.

It's much better if they gain/retain customers through excellent customer service. That sort of loyalty is harder to get, but easy to maintain if you are good.

Well I think they are ok, but there are so many, I find my purse is full of these bits of plastic from Tesco, Sainsburys, Boots, shopping centres...I think it might be better to just have them all logged on your bank card, so when you use it to spend they just reduce the price! Its good if they really are giving you something for nothing, but I am doubtful of that!

That is an interesting question...I think if you plan things well ( not like me- it gives me a headache ) Tseco points are great because you then can get double them in rewards like legoland tickets etc. However on the whole I would say money off because you are getting a better deal, but then could you get a better deal in the first place from a company not offering rewards???? ( headache coming on )

I agree with a lot that has been said already. Having checked the tarifs E.ON offer, they are much more expensive than our current supplier. Thus the fact I would get vouchers worth just a small amount obviously wouldn't make me switch. However, if I was already a customer and the difference between the E.ON tarifs would not be so big, getting some Tesco vouchers would be a nice way to round up the year.

In general I like loyalty schemes where it is clear what I am getting from it, the points are easy to get and to spend and I shop there anyway, otherwise it isn't much of an incentive. I like the Boots one best as I seem to get points quickly and it is clear on the receipt how much you have.

For energy suppliers I'm not so sure really. I just want the cheapest rate and would factor in any loyalty or discounts on offer. I would go for money off if the reward was linked to Tesco exclusively, as that's not somewhere I shop. High street vouchers or a range of places to choose a reward from would be better.

And yes, as for others, the eon cost would be more than we currently pay for gas and electric, even including the loyalty reward for future years.

I like reward schemes generally and am signed up to quite a few. Some, like Tesco, Boots and to a lesser extent, Nectar are worthwhile and I will factor in the fact that I get points when buying things so they do affect my 'loyalty' in that way as I will shop with Tesco/Boots/Nectar over another store when the price is the same or very similar. In this case, I'm not sure the reward would be worth the cost of being with E.on though as I could save a lot more by being with another company and spend the money saved anywhere rather than just at E.on or Tesco.

It wouldn't encourage me to get my energy supply from E.on unless the difference in price over and year between them and the cheapest supplier was less than £10, which i doubt would be the case. If I were to join the scheme, I would probably go for money off my bill as I already amass enough Tesco points as it is.

The E.ON rewards look far too small to make it worth your while sticking with them. The rate of return in loyalty bonus is laughable as a percentage of a typical household's expenditure on energy bills. I'd rather take the money off the bill than Tesco vouchers if I had to make the choice, but I wouldn't be too chuffed at getting a tenner off a whole year's bill - I wouldn't even notice it.

There are so many out there, I have a plastic card for just about everything these days, well, bar being a Mooncup? user If I use the company and have a card, then great, I'll hand it over at the till or whatever but they don't sway me to use a particular retailer or buy a certain product.

The E.ON Rewards aren't very appealing, there's always a 'gimmick' from whoever you get your utilities from. If I had to chose, I'd rather have money off my bill, otherwise, clever old Tesco get my money as I can only spend my vouchers with them!

Rewards are pointless (ha ha) if the up-front cost of the service ishigher than the competition. So the bottom line would be fat more important to me than any reward scheme.

Given that I wouldnot factor rewards into my choice of energy provider, I would take the rewards as Tesco points. Tesco points give good value-for-money when converted into money-off vouchers for attractions/travel/eating out.

As for Air Miles - utterly useless rip-off.
