We've been asked by the team at Kleenex to find out about your favourite websites or apps which can keep you or your family entertained.

They say "We know there's no site better than Mumsnet for some social support when you're feeling under the weather, but we're looking to find out what websites or apps keep you and the family occupied in your down time. For example, are you a fan of video streaming sites? Do you use the web to catch up on some light reading or the latest gossip, and if so where? Have you found the perfect online game to share? And importantly, what sites or apps keep the children entertained in a fun (and safe) environment? And why do you like the one(s) you like?! Call it our online survey of 2011 - share your favourites on this thread and you may also discover a new site from other MNers Xmas Grin"

So please take a few minutes to share your (or your DC's) favourite website or app on this thread, along with the reasons for liking it/them so much. Everyone who does so will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 John Lewis voucher and two runners up will get a £50 voucher.

Please note - if you add your comments on this thread - Kleenex may use your comment in other media - (for example: print (magazines/ newspapers) and online). They won't use your MN name. Comments may also be featured on the Kleenex pages on Mumsnet.

Thanks and good luck
MNHQ

DS1 would be lost without youtube and endless videos of planes and space shuttles.

His favourite app (oh yes, at the tender age of two, he has a favourite app) is the wheels on the bus app Its easy for him to use, and he likes to sing along.

In fact, we'll be watching many many youtube videos today as I'm not well and it keeps him occupied.

Cracked is my own personal favourite website.

I love YouTube for the steam train videos. Some are just awful, but others are beautifully filmed and DS loves watching them (so do I!).

Simon's Cat. Nuff said!

For Advent calendars with no calories, I can't recommend the Jacquie Lawson ones highly enough. There's a lovely snowflake drawer in this year's; whatever you draw gets automatically repeated in sixfold-symmetry. Lovely. DS adores it and it's worked wonders in getting him out of bed during the dark mornings!

Thought of another one: Pimp that Snack. Giant Creme Egg anyone? Or a Party Ring the size of a dinner plate?

I love pimp that snack! Always wanted to do one myself, but never got around to it. Maybe that could be my new years resolution: to pimp a snack.

I'm getting some great ideas from this thread as I am a bit backwards with apps (I love Ocado's app).

When I have finished reading all of MN I tend to read the Guardian's website.

I have MN, FB and Pinterest open pretty much daily.

DS1 loves Moshi Monsters, when he's allowed, and both DSs are happy to peruse the CBeebies website.

Apps - I use Toddler Lock and Angry Birds for the children, I have Jamie Oliver's 20 minute meals and use YouTube/FB and Twitter from my phone.

And for even more timewasting I love a good AwkwardFamilyPhoto, lolcat or PoorlyDressed.

My children love the NORAD tracking Santa website on Christmas Eve and it keeps them busy for most of the evening. It is quite a spectacular looking website and is very clever and definitely adds to the magic of Christmas for them as they see Father Christmas getting closer to England.

I suppose on an educational note it does teach them how far or near they are to some of the other children that Father Christmas has to visit (and what what an underrated job he does).

YouTube is heaven sent! We have all of baby's growing up videos on our channel, when little one is feeling poorly (and us too!), we play back videos of less sniffly times, and relax!

Youtube is used and loved by everyone in our household. I love the news websites - the Times was my fave but now you have to pay to view it I switched to the Guardian. Facebook is another biggy and I use the app on my phone quite a bit. This time of year I spend most of the time on Amazon and my DD is obsessed with her online advent calendar from Jacqui Lawson

My girls and I love the cbeebies and cbbc website. I really love the Boden community, it is friendly, lots of people with similar lives / issues, most of it is not related to clothes at all - its like having a good chat that lifts your mood

For the kids: Friv.com has saved me from entertaining my 6 yo DS on numerous occasions! Lots of games to keep him busy. Cbeebies also very popular. Youtube used to be, until the time the gentle steam train videos turned into someone trainsurfing ... I didn't need my 4 yo getting any more ideas of how to get into mischief. Thomas and Fireman Sam website used as well.
Favourite apps are Talking Tom (my 2 yo screams with laughter at that!), Traffic Jam (puzzle game) for 6 yo and Paint for both.
For me: Guardian and BBC for news, mumsnet for far too much of the day, ravelry and pinterest when need to dream :) Facebook for keeping in touch with far flung friends and G+ for random goodies.
When all else fails, virtual window shopping on amazon - my wish list is epic!

Ebay all the way! Its the only thing that keeps me (semi) sane when my DD decides to get up at 2am and will most definately will not go back to bed (without screaming the house down). Lost count of the number of things I've bagged in the middle of the night, all at a bargain price! Plus the fact it also keeps her entertained for a little while also! x

My 3 year old loves the Peek a Boo Barn app. It's colouful and easy for him to use. I love it because it jeeps him entertained but doesn't drive me nuts.
I spend quite a lot of time on Facebook. I'm from the States and it's such a great way to keep in touch with all my friends and family.

Well, it's hard to top MN, but I like to read the news on the BBC website and sometimes SKY, also look at the Guardian.

You Tube is always great for a laugh, I don't bother with stuff like Facebook tbh.

dd (6) likes the CBBC website, and also goes on Mathletics.

Don't really do many games but have been known to play Bejeweled (sp?) on my phone, and also QBeez. :)

Favourite apps include Meal Board and Toodledo.
