It's horrible when that happens, and when you know it won't be a one-off either. having to keep your gameface on for him and be supportive and calm when what you want to do is some serious mutilation with tooth and claw.
And you wonder what harm he is doing to anyone, and why can't others be tolerant of difference.
There are some nasty little vermin out there
Yes thanks for that.. I once chased some teenagers through my village in my little car My son only went to the village shop to fetch milk for an elderly next door neighbour and four teenagers followed him home right behind him calling him names. Good for him that he didnt retaliate but kept on walking but was in tears. Then they threw stones at my house!!! so I chased them. Our shop has CCTV so we managed to identify the buys who were cautioned by the police.

Anyone elses SN children suffer from bullying?

Goblinchild · 24/10/2009 08:22

I think you'll find that a lot of it goes on, and there will be others along who will share your experiences.
My boy has always responded to a threat or a stressful situation with rage and a physical reaction, very powerful and usually only one hit.
He's not been bullied, mostly because his school is fantastic about identifying, pre-empting and supporting the needs of its students (MS College, over 1,500 pupils) but also because only a masochist would pick on Boy twice.
And although I shouldn't be, I've always been pleased that it is so. Thought you had an easy victim? Think on.

nodgersmum · 24/10/2009 08:54

I dont think my son would ever hit back although he is tall and bigwith it(the syndrome makes them grow tall and he is over 6 feet) Wish he would sometimes and teach someone a lesson but he doesnt have it in him

just want to say hello, am new to mnet but have a dd aged 11 with various physical disablities, type of muscular dystrophy, tracheostomy and ventilator, electric wheelchair, etc; in mainstream school; growing up v fast and i am facing all sorts of new difficulties. Also a dd aged 13.

CardyMow · 30/11/2009 21:24

I have DD who is 11. She has LD, she's ASD, she has epilepsy, heart problems and is partially deaf. She's still at mainstream secondary school (purely cos my LEA are pants and so was her primary, probably not for much longer have a meeting in a week about it all lol) and she's hit puberty incredibly early (for my family anyway, I was almost 15 when I hit that stage...). How do you explain things like how to keep herself safe? She got asked out by a year 11 last week...

asdx2 · 17/01/2010 11:02

Hi I have ds 14 who has moderate autism as wll as an older son with dyspraxia and a dd 6 with moderate autism too. Another two are NT mathematically gifted and not a walk in the park by any means.

SnowWoman · 22/03/2010 21:33

I have an Aspie ds 15, DD1 and DD2, and DD3 9 who is somewhere on the spectrum but "not bad enough to give a diagnosis to".

mumeeee · 23/09/2010 22:21

DD3 is 18 and is dyspraxic, she also has part of her nunber 18 chromsome missing,( 18P Deletion syndrome) which has caused some od=f her learning difficulties. DD2 is 20 and I'm sure she has mild dyspraxia as do I. DD1 23 completly normal ( whatever that is)

JoolsMc · 27/09/2010 11:45

J is 14 with AS and attachment disorder. Last night he flooded the bathroom with water and bubbles by sloshing backwards & forwards in the bath. What fun!! He' so babyish but thinks he knows everything

purplepidjin · 31/10/2010 22:00

No dc's but have spent the last 5 years working with sn kids, mostly teens with ASD, right through the spectrum.

I also love sewing and have set myself up in my spare time making trousers (or whatever I'm asked to lol) for kids like my dp's niece (5 and ASD) who needs extra room in her trousers to fit a nappy, plus easy closures for mum.

I'm going to be working with adults with various LD as soon as my crb and references turn up [rolls eyes] which will be totally new for me - really looking forward to it.

Anyway, I thought I'd say hi and I hope you don't mind me hanging around here and in the children's bit :)

20 yr old Autism,Dyspraxia & bi-polar- he can be 'fun' on his less good days!
18 yr old just has dyslexia
14 yr old Aspergers + ADHD and god help me- G&T to a scary level.
12 yr old fiberous dysplasia [benign bone tumors in legs] tends to failure to thrive, dyslexic and on the cusp of G&T which helps her catch up with school work when she has been stuck in hospital.

jardy · 06/11/2010 11:27

22year old with severe physical and learning disabilities, severe epilepsy, most difficult of all violent outbursts (really hard when I am trying to shave his face in the bath each morning).Developmentally about 12 months.Cant feed himself, still in nappies. One dd at uni(nt) I work full time and always have.Love my job. DS goes to a Daycentre on 5 days a week, and we get (SUPPOSED TO GET),28 days respite a year, but they are fully booked up for the next 6 months(so none!)I found the first 10 years extremely difficult, the next 10 years much easier,so hang on those who have bad days, and for what its worth, once the trauma of transition was over, and one or two blips, which eventually was ironed out, post school has been great. Our son goes to his day centre every day in the hols, its amazing, such bliss after years of him been home all day in the hols.I hope David Cameron is reading this,as it is (almost) a Lifesaver,an absolute God Send.

jardy · 06/11/2010 13:27

EllenJane1 · 14/02/2011 23:44

Hi all. I've just recently found MN and have been lovin' the SEN threads. I've got a DS who's 13 and NT but geeky, a DS who's 11 with ASD in MS and soon going up to secondary and a DS who's 8 and undiagnosed on the spectrum, and 'quirky.' Can I hover here as all I'm thinking about is secondary school?

bigbluebus · 05/03/2011 21:50

Hi
I have DD (16) rare chromosone disorder - PMLD & complex health needs and DS (14) HF ASD.
