I’m disappointed in my children. There, I’ve said it. This might be because we’ve had a year of hell and DH and I are both exhausted and broke from trying so hard to support them - DD1 17 is AuDHD, suffers from low iron & anxiety, took an overdose during GCSE mocks last year, scraped through to sixth form but is about to drop out with no plan. DD2 is autistic and has just been discharged from the ED clinic for anorexia, also suffers from anxiety, often school refuses and today is likely to refuse a rescheduled GCSE mock. AND/OR it might be because despite facing similar ND challenges I worked my arse off all through school and university (first and perhaps last in my family), supported myself from 13 yo with part time jobs, worked incredibly hard throughout my early career, put my career aside after COVID hit and advocating for my traumatised DDs became incompatible with working FT, and married the most loving hands-on father/husband to ensure they had the stable, loving, privileged, suburban, MC childhood I could only have dreamt of - only for both my daughters to grow up lazy, ungrateful, entitled and seemingly determined to waste every opportunity placed in front of them. Writing this here because obviously IRL I could never, but fuck me I want to scream.
