Hi. I deleted my account after I had a bad experience and can’t find the old thread. Not sure if anyone will remember my thread here but if not I hope this update will help people!!
last Feb my dd (year 10) was asked to leave her school because they couldn’t cope with her. Their senco and way of dealing with pupils was really poor and I kick myself for not moving her earlier. We made the decision to hold her back a year and send her weekly boarding as hoped the structure would help - it didn’t - she lasted 6 weeks!
we found a small day school and she is absolutely thriving - her predicted gcse grades have doubled across the board and she’s happy and engaged with the academics. Not perfect but it really made me realise how the negativity of her old school was dragging her down and she finally is starting to feel good about herself.
anyway, I really just wanted to update to give people hope (!). This time last year I was so down and now I feel quite hopeful
