My DS is 12. He's AuDHD & to all & in general (at the moment) is coping well. Now that he's well settled into Secondary School, I'm trying to encourage independence & improve his social skills. He rarely leaves the house except for school & a swimming lesson once a week....(which he protests about until he gets into the pool, then tells me he's glad I 'forced' him to go..LOL).
He is forgetful/messy/easily distracted/seriously hyper focused when he enjoys something but INCREDIBLY routine driven. Hence barely leaving the house, and I have great difficulty introducing new things/environments/stopping bad habits.
I need this to work without me there. Unfortunately DH has always been rubbish at anything to do with the kids-feeding them/hygiene/bedtimes etc etc (no guessing where the ND started..). So-this needs to work independently of me/him/siblings.
Any ideas?? TY.

DS might be a bit young for it at the moment, especially if you don’t want to have any involvement in it, but have a look at Brain in Hand.

Some people have success at helping DC set alarms and making lists checklists.

Some find ADHD coaching helpful.

Has DS had an OT assessment?
