PIP and parent is not appointee

DD claims PIP and although I filled in the forms for her because she didn't start claiming it until she was 18, so I didn't feel it was right for me to be her appointee - plus she is able to handle having an account and managing her money.

I do give her quite a lot of support such as lifts, managing shopping trips, she is expected to chip in with housework, do washing and make a meal once a week, things that I think if she was living alone at the moment she would not be as on top of.
She is 20 now and has a part time job, I'm just wondering any other parents aren't appointees but take a contribution of the PIP as a carer - although I feel more like a support worker/supervisor!

Being appointee isn’t about the age of the claimant. It is about whether they can handle a claim, including managing the money, themselves.

It isn’t unreasonable for DD to use some of the money to contribute to things like fuel for the car, utilities, etc.

If instead you mean DD pay you a wage as a carer, you would either need to be self employed or DD would to employ you directly and the money would need to be declared as earnings.

Is DD also claiming UC? Including the LCWRA element if appropriate.

Has DD had a social care assessment if you think she needs a carer/PA?

Thanks for the reply no i dont expect to be paid as a carer - doesnt require that much support. She did have a support worker, but no longer needs one. She only qualifies for UC. Yeah i was just thinking utilities etc. i didnt thibk of being appointee - even though i filled in the form on her behalf! Thanks

I think it is perfectly fine to ask for a contribution to the running of the house such as utilities and DD’s disability related expenses you pay for. Completely normal. It is what UC and PIP are for.
