Theory Driving Test - How Many Times Before a Pass

My daughter age 19 with autism and ADHD has taken the theory driving test about 8 times now. The highest score is 36 which was in October last year. She did another one last week and got 28 which she said was because she revised the wrong stuff. (Thought that she needed to revise categories marked 1).

Spent last two months titration for ADHD meds to help but they didn’t work. Started second new drug but had horrible side effects. Now won’t take any more meds at all which I don’t blame her for.

The next test I’m going to see if she could get extra time and have someone read out the questions. Thinking back I should have done this to begin with maybe.

Anyone else experienced this journey and their adult child passed with the extra help? Tha ks

I would definitely look at access arrangements for the next test.

Can you help DD revise? Has she done some practice tests at home? Is there a specific area she is struggling with? What is she using to revise? The 4 in 1 app is good.

Get her to do lots of practice tests at home.
If she gets a question wrong, then she needs to understand why she got it wrong and what the correct answer is. Once she starts consistently passing practice tests then she is ready for the real thing,

Until then there’s no point booking another real test.

Yes I think the key is for her to keep taking the tests at home before I book the next one. Will take a look at the 1 in 4 app

My DD (NT) has failed 7 times. She has massive exam anxiety and when doing her GCSE's everything she knew flew out of her head as soon as she entered the exam hall and she came out with low grades.... same thing with the theory test she knows it all but as soon as walks into test centre everything she knows just flys away.

So dis heartening for them when they know it - no real advice but my DD has now given up practical lessons as she gets so anxious in exam situations she has convinced herself she will never pass the theory part so therefore there is no point in learning to drive at all

Funnily enough my ND son loves exams and perfoms really well as he loves the peace and quiet of an exam room but has no interest in driving!!
