My dd, now 19, just been diagnosed as autistic. She is also adhd. She’s a very quirky soul with soooo many brilliant things going for her. I really want to be able to support her going forward but not ‘correct’ her iykwim. How do you say that’s not how you eg talk to someone, or develop social skills so you can have friends. Any recommendations for things to read/listen to would really be appreciated

I’m really sorry she’s been diagnosed with autism and ADHD – they’re such disabling conditions and can make life really hard. It feels like everyone has them now, and it’s so confusing not knowing what’s causing it. 💛 You might find a visual book with mainly pictures and very few words helpful – they’re easier to process and can be really enjoyable. She might also learn well through music, which can be a really engaging way to take in new ideas.
