We are a family with a lot of additional needs. I have a range of disabilities so we have arranged special assistance at airport on outward and return flight. We have booked our seats to be together on the same row all be it with the aisle between us.

whilst on the phone to Ryanair I tried to explain I have epilepsy and struggles with walking. But when I then tried to explain my daughter has a hidden disability and so has her boyfriend (the person who has never flown) the Ryanair employee hung up the phone on me. I realise this is unacceptable but that’s Ryanair for you.

What else can I do to support my daughter’s boyfriend? Daughter tells me he is excited and nervous about flying.

Do I suggest to him that he tell the flight attendants that he is a first time flyer?

We had a short trip to Europe earlier this year but we drove then.

Personally, I would focus on any adjustments needed for his disability rather than being a first time flyer. The latter doesn’t give any indication of whether support is required or what.
