PIP and UC

I used to receive DLA for DS, he is now almost 17, still in full time education at SEN 6th Form and has a PIP award. I work part time and claim UC. I am his appointee and his PIP gets paid into my bank account as did the DLA previously.

I made a change of circumstances on my journal to advise UC that DLA had ended & DS had been awarded PIP, this was about 5 months ago.

It has just occurred to me that it would be normal practice for DLA to be paid into a parent/carers account but when I made the online update to tell UC that DS DLA had ended and he was awarded PIP I cannot recall if there was any option to advise I was appointee & the money was going into my account.

Should his award should be classed as extra income in regards to my UC claim as it is his award but paid into my account? I’m worried that because I have not disclosed this information that my UC claim may not be correct and I could have been overpaid.

PIP isn’t counted as income for UC. You being appointee doesn’t matter.

Thank you for your reply. I did ask on my UC journal but thought it would be quicker getting a reply on here. And I was right Smile
