My Asd dd (18) has no concept of money. She has a current account and a savings account and was supposed to be saving to go away with her sisters. Just before they were due to go, it turned out she had saved very little (had been moving money that had gone into savings into her current account with little understanding of what it would mean later on).
In order for the trip to go ahead, she had to use some of her child trust fund money.
Her elder sister had control of her money on the trip and this has now caused major friction about how it was spent.
She knows she has a problem but I’m at a loss as to what to do and she isn’t speaking to me either now as I was behind her sisters having financial control on holiday. They were traveling around so needed to save money for each stop.
I’m worried about how she is going to learn to manage her money when/if she goes to university. She’s taking a year out but will be earning in the meantime.
