Options in London post GCSE

Hi,
My son is about to sit his GCSEs. He has dyslexia and dyscalculia, with access arrangements in place, and has had lots of tutoring. He works hard, but struggles with working memory and multi-step questions — so even though he can do individual skills in maths/English, combining them really throws him.
He’s brilliant with people, gets great feedback from work experience, and is always active — especially in sport (basketball is a big love). He’s motivated and ambitious, but frustrated by school. Apprenticeships don’t feel like the right fit either — he’s not very hands-on.
We need a plan for the next two years. I’m looking at everything from private sixth forms with SEND support to supported internships or FE colleges in London. Has anyone got experience or recommendations — or any inspiration? I just don’t want him stuck doing something that knocks his confidence all over again.
Thanks so much.

What does DS want to do? If DS is interested in sport, is that the area he wants to focus on?

You mention supported internships, so presumably DS has an EHCP. The amended EHCP naming the placement for next year should have been finalised by now. Has it not been?

There are lots of providers who offer supported internships involving sport and leisure in London. Some offer pre-supported internships, too. However, it is very late in the day to be considering this.

There are college sports courses at a range of levels, but to narrow it down, you will need to think about what level DS will go on to.
