ASD (PDA) anxious 17yo has joined tumblr and is claiming to be trans and a self harmer.
I know this isn't true, and feel that I've stumbled on a fantasy world (I have very tight internet controls so can see what's being accessed).
Do I ignore this and wait for it to pass?? And maybe look the other way while continuing to monitor - all tech is switched off and inaccessible at night, there are automatic timers set for apps (all agreed and discussed, not imposed)

For a bit of context, they have an older, independent and happy trans sibling, so I am wondering if some of these behaviours are being copied.
My teen has high care needs, but is a competent thinker, if that makes sense.

Hey op, I've seen threads similar to yours on the feminism boards, you could try posting there for more traffic as it's pretty active. The general consensus seems to be watchful waiting, there are some charities that offer support and advice on how to navigate things, I just can't remember what they're called, I've seen them mentioned on the feminism boards.

I didn't realise tumblr was still a thing, but any kind of online messaging site or app is a worry, especially ones with disappearing messages like Snapchat and WhatsApp has that option now too. Beware of discord as well.

I've seen Tumblr mentioned recently for Thinspiration in the ED section.

Is your DC actually self-harming?

No, absolutely no sign of self harming. And no signs of depression or disassociation either.
