I always struggle with ideas for Christmas presents, so gift our children £200 each. I’m told this is very generous. Is it? I also buy a few things for under the tree for around £20-£30.

We've given the sane this year as there was hardly anything they wanted.

Eldest has bought himself some new running shoes that were retailed for £160 before Christmas. He's bought them today for £40 so he's very happy and I am too or that would have been a waste of £120! Grin

Hope you had a nice Christmas Wink

This is a bit late- but too generous for who? It’s what you can afford. I know when you buy you have the main gift then the other bits- I think you can easy spend more than £200 so as a parent I would say it’s a good deal! And they make it go further by shopping in the sales and they learn to budget from it.

I aim to spend £200 each on disabled DDs for birthdays and Christmas. One is single, and therefore doesn’t get any presents from a partner, like many adults would. The other cannot work and doesn’t get any benefits - so she has no money. I spend less on DS, who is in the top 2% of earners and can afford to do what he wants.
