'Fast Track' assessment

Hello,

My son (23) has been struggling with MH problems for years (unable to attend school from age 13 and totally isolated for a decade). He has a diagnosis of GAD and an ED (bulimia).

After having another crisis, the mental health team and his GP have held a review and said he will be 'fast tracked' for an assessment for ADHD/autism.

I know the waiting lists for assessments on the NHS are incredibly long, but I have no idea how long a 'fast tracked' referral will take.

I realise there are separate issues pertaining to what support he would get after any diagnosis, but at the moment, I just want to know how long the wait for assessment is likely to be.

If anyone can help, that would be great.

There’s no set amount of time even for urgent assessments. It depends on the provider.

Thank you. I thought this might be the case.

Hi sorry this is a few months old but thought I could be of assistance. My DD had both her sdhd and autism assessments fast tracked. Her ADHD one took 7/8 months during Covid and her autism one took around 4 months

I name changed, but this is the thread I started. We are still waiting, so it has been 6 months.
