Young adult son/daughter moving to own home?

I would like to hear other parents of ASN kids who have made the choice for their child to get their own home? With 24/7 care from care providers? Never thought this would cross my mind, but life is full of difficult decisions. And my heart is almost breaking thinking of the near future.
Has anyone any experience of this please?

I've not had to face that decision but I know that bothers on here have. I hope you get some responses soon @LorsC72 Flowers

Helpful bump, also at this stage.

Also looking at this.
have you spoken to social services and how old is your child?
you usually get a transition officer around 18/19 and they assist here with supported living.

We are at a similar stage (dc age 25 MLD and ASD) and have been surprised to find there appears to be no support at all! Adult services arranged by social services seem to be all aimed at physical support such as help with personal care- rather than the sort of support and mentoring needed by young adults with moderate or severe learning disabilities. We have been told DS cannot join a waitlist for supported housing ( many years wait) because we are not overcrowded in our family home and we are at present ( if struggling) able to support his needs.
I would advise anyone with younger adult children with learning disabilities that will always need support to insist on support from social services whilst still well under 25 and insist on referral for transitioning to supported accommodation before age 25!

We have been advised to sort out a place ( room/flat) for him and organise carers. He should be entitled to housing benefit (not enough to actually rent a room). We are looking at all the costs at present. It’s all very daunting!
