Mainstream school and grades A to C

A friend was telling me about a teenager who attends a mainstream secondary school and receives no SEN support doesn’t have an EHCP. They are predicted A to C grades in their GCSEs yet she thinks they have MLD, as they lack life skills and have poor reading comprehension skills. is this possible?

MLD is more than lacking life skills and poor reading comprehension. The majority of MLD students will not achieve 4+ across the board in their GCSEs.
