Prescriptions

I am trying to find out if my dd would be entitled to free prescriptions if she doesn’t attend college? She’s 18, has austism and a EHCP. I keep finding conflicting information on this subject.

You can see who is eligible for free prescriptions here. Whether DD is eligible or not depends on her circumstances. Is she still in full-time education even if that is not at a college? Does she have a medical condition/take medication that can make her exempt? Does DD claim UC and have earnings under the threshold (what the threshold is depends on if DD has LCW/LCWRA or a child element on her claim)? Does she have an HC2 certificate?

Thank you for replying. She’s waiting to be registered at college. She’s autistic and on anti-depressants.She doesn’t claim uc. She does have PIP. She doesn’t have a HCP2 certificate.l have at the moment paid for a 3 month prepaid prescription plan and hopefully if they sort out registration, then l can apply for a refund.

She’s waiting to be registered at college.

Is the college named in section I of the EHCP? If so, she can attend. She doesn’t need to delay further. If it is not named in I, where are you in the EHCP process? Is the LA providing anything detailed, specified and quantified in F of the EHCP?

They are going to name the College on the EHCP. I am just waiting for this to be done and also for my dd to register for course. Then hopefully if all is ok, then l can apply for a prescription refund.

Make sure the LA stick to the statutory timescales for amending the EHCP. It sounds like they may not be.
