ASD assessment for teen in Bristol/South Wales ares?

Can anyone recommend a good EP/Clinical Psych/other team who could do a decent independent ASD assessment? Around the Bristol/Cardiff/South Wales area.

My friend is considering for her 14 year old DS.

Have they tried the GP yet and what have they said? We had much more success going through the GP than other services.

If they are thinking of going private, does their LA accept private diagnoses?

I don't think they have tried GP yet. I will remind them that is an option. I know for our area the wait list is 18 months to 3 years.

LA has to accept it (or at least SENDIST will force them to) if it is NICE compliant e.g. certain tests are used like ADOS, multidisciplinary assessment, developmental history etc Whether a professional report is NHS or private does not matter in the eyes of the law. As long as it is done by someone with the right quals and experience and to the specific professional/medical guidelines.
