Our young adult daughter with ADHD/ASD has one year left before completing her degree. She wants to be a paralegal, or a solicitor but doesn’t really know what real work is. Getting this far has been hard enough without her feeling the stress of a part time role. How do we prepare her for this once completing the degree?

Is she able to do any work at all, even if it's half a day in a charity shop over the Summer?

@RappersNeedChapstick It’s something she has done just prior to her diagnosis. She says she won’t be doing it again as customers are rude and she won’t get paid for it. It was a lovely team she worked with and the other volunteers were also ASD but none who were going to Uni. It’s like she falls in between the cracks.

It's hard isn't it when they have fixed ideas.

Woukd looking at it from the other point of view work? So instead of concentrating on a job now, see if she will look at what work experience a typical employer will expect in her chosen field.

My DD has just got a sought after apprenticeship and they e told her that she got the interview solely on the work experience she has.
